I rotate except for a couple of films. I only watch Scrooged every second year and a lot of others and tend to get more enjoyment this way. There are a couple that are non negotiable though like polar express and elf and trading places.

That very interesting as I was only thinking the same thing but I would even extend it to non Christmas movies. Am starting to get bored with old favourites. There are a bunch of my all times that I find I can no longer sit through. I just get a bit bored as I know the material inside out.

I think as I get older with Christmas rolling around what seems like quicker & quicker each year its jut too frquent to rewatch the same few films again & again.

We get very little time to watch TV at all, so repeat viewing seems a little silly when theres so much new material out there we want to see.

The last few days I've watched Red One (fine, probably won't watch again), A Muppet Christmas Carol ( always a winner),Klaus ( a gem of a film) and a 2007 film called Holiday in Handcuffs that with the actress who played Sabrina and AC Slater form Saved by the Bell. I'll just leave the plot here because even for a cheesy formulaic Christmas film its a bit bananas.

My little lad only saw the Polar express 2 weeks ago and he loves it now, and only last week we were dancing around the kitchen to the soundtrack, the music is brilliant in it.

I think everyone pretty much phases out for the first half of Home Alone. The family is obnoxious and unlikeable. As soon as the violence kicks in, everyone is on board and enjoying….. Right up until John Candy turns up. At which stage everyone goes "Oh, I forgot he was in this" and immediately stops what they are doing and pay full attention and remember how much they miss John Candy 'cos he is just… just the best. (That's not a tear in my eye…. Just, y'know, dust or something. Shutup)

I don't think I have seen all of HA 2 in one go, ever.

I tend NOT to stick to the same rotation. I haven't watched Willy Wonka from start to finish in over a decade. Every 3 or 4 years I do Die Hard. Haven't done Elf in a few and was about to this year. Scrooged every 3 years or so

I would imagine there is definitely an angle of "Familiarity breeds contempt" with rewatching. Especially with films which revolve around competition like "Deck The Halls" etc. May be funny initially but repeated viewings make you dislike the characters more and more.

Looking forward to the new Wallace & Gromit but that Red One just looks….. AWFUL and I do appreciate some dedicated Boardsies taking a bullet for the team and reporting (almost universally) that it's "Fine. No more. No less"

Janey… Hallmark films are dire, they are diabolically bad. And yet I can't stop watching them. And I normally look down on people hooked on reality TV, so I should hang my head in shame.

Maybe it's because of all the fancy kitchens I see in every one of them.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

Things I had forgotten from Die Hard that raised an eyebrow, John carrying his gun on the plane and lighting up in the airport. Holly urging her heavily pregnant assistant to join the office party and have a drink. Holly hiring an illegal hispanic maid. I also mistakenly remembered John saying yipee-kai-ay Mother F-er several times, he only says it once.

Jeremy Irons steals the show with his excellent performance too, some great deadpan humour from him.

I'm all Hallmarked out. I watched too many, and they've all started to blur together. Too many people give up high flying careers in the city at Christmas to stay in a small town and run their family's inn/lodge/toy shop/cafe/windmill. 😂

I need to watch a few classics before the big day. I'm working Christmas Eve, my usual Die Hard day, so might leave it off the rotation this year to keep it fresh.

Watched Die Hard 2. More Christmassy than the original because it has lots of snow.

There has not been a Christmas movie of note released in a long time IMO. 'Love Actually' is the last one I saw that was any good, cheesy yes, but not bad. There is only so many times one can watch the oldies.

I caught a little bit of the 1950s Scrooge this morning. Allistair Simm is far and away the best Ebenezer.
