R = 2024. Can you not tell by looking at the car?

I don’t know 8th generation looks like in Ireland, the guide book printed on 11.2023. I searched online information, but car dealer insists on said it is golf 8.5th generation.

    have a look here.

Main differences out side, 8.5 headlights are narrower and miss the curves on the bottom extend back more into the wing

Inside, the infortainment is the main difference the pretty poor system from the golf 8 was mounted in black plastic that extended from the instrument cluster. 8.5 has a distinct standalone screen (that’s much improved)

if it’s old version will be cheaper than the new one. the price will be big difference if it’s older version. So that’s reason I am trying to find it out.

The easiest way to tell the difference is by looking at the interior, the Mk8.5 has a larger infotainment screen that floats on top of the dashboard whereas on the older Mk8 it's a smaller screen that sort of extends out from the dial screen.
