Helio is in !

Despite initially indicating that 90 days notice of a starting provisional for a world class driver from the team was required, it's now widely reported that Helio Castroneves will be guaranteed a starting spot at the Daytona 500 under the new rules announced yesterday.

Worst case he will start 41st in #91 Trackhouse Chevy.

Update : Nascar have confirmed that Trackhouse applied for and received the guaranteed provisional starting spot 90 days before Daytona (though its a new rule !).

Premier Sport's are running promos for Nascar in 2025 which would seem to confirm Premier have retained the Irish and UK rights.

Lots of politics! Is RCR about to go all in with 23XI and Frontrows lawsuit ?

Are the France family about to enter their own team (which they are allowed do under the new charter arrangements)

JR Motorsports are entering a car in the Daytona 500 ,#40 for Justin Algaeir .

JR is 'Junior Motorsports' ,Dale Earnhardt Jnr team which he runs with his sister Kellie.Dale is by far the most popular (ex) driver in Nascar and a huge draw to any event he appears at.

Truex ,Jimmy Johnson and Corey laJoie all added to the Daytona 500 entry list , the duals are going to be interesting !

Daytona 500 has been brought forward to a 7pm starting Irish starting time on Sunday 16th.

The 45 entrants have been reduced to 40 , well 41 as Helio Castroneves has used his starter provisional after crashing in the qualifying race.

Former Nascar champions, Martin Truex Jr and Jimmy Johnson (both Toyota) qualified on speed while Justin Algaeir and Corey laJoie qualified through the 'duels' qualifying races.

Chase Briscoe starts on pole ,Austin Cindric alongside him with Bubba Wallace starting 3rd.

As qualifying has shown anyone can win the 500, Toyota look strong ,but as Erik Jones found out in the qualifying duels , a yellow at the wrong time can cost even the most deserved of victories .

It's an L2 penalty , adjusted a single supplier part , an absolute No No in Nascar.

The 100 points deduction, $100k penalty and crew chief suspension are all standard.

The single supplier part 'modified ' was the spoiler.

Nascar impounded Briscoe and Cindrics cars ,after they qualified on the front row for the Daytona 500 ,which apparently is unusual.....

Not Brisoces fault, probably a crew chief being over zealous after a winless year with Martin Truex Jr

JGR plan on appealing ,'supplier interference issues' according to JGR......

Can Ford convert the speed advantage to an actual race win on a super speedway....

Cindric could be the one to watch , last years race was a photo finish with Suarez winning- Atlanta being a track that he has done very well on over the years.

23XI lock out the front row at COTA !

Reddick on pole is not a surprise, but Bubba 2nd is a surprise, on a road course.

Race favourite SVG starts on the 3rd row , Hocevar strong again.

Conor Zilich ,who is racing for trackhouse won the infinity race yesterday.

A surprise to many , the appeals panel has found in favour of Joe Gibbs racing and all the penalties have been rescinded !

Austin Cindric however has received a 50 point reduction for right hooking Ty Dillon at COTA , a one race suspension was not applied on the basis of the incident happening at (low speed) COTA

Finally , Mexico is still on , contingency plans are in place in case the race has to be cancelled (World events ie Tariffs ).
