Is the sun down for maintenance or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 963 ✭✭✭mykrodot

Yes probably , that's the reason I made the most of it today, a great Vitamin D boost, there was even a bit of heat in the sun !

Hmm the west seems to be getting the best of the weather lately, maybe we need to move Dublin.

Another horrendous day in Dublin, don't think it got past 5 degrees, I honestly wouldn't know it was Feb no extra light whatsoever.

Phew, not so @Robwindstorm - a visit to family there. Do it all again Monday in the torrents of rain I see forecast. The spray off the motorway does be cat. Mid-term break for schools next week. Seems like a waste of time off in forecast. Ugh.

Not in Leitrim that's for sure. Over a week of darkness. Anyway wet misty start to the day. 3C.

Not very often I complain about the weather but it's another grey, wet morning in coastal Wicklow. The kind of misty rain that doesn't show up on the radar but yet is enough to ruin any outdoor plans.

The first poster to complain that it's "too hot" when it's 25⁰ in the summer should get a lifetime ban : )

Awful morning again in Dublin...depressing stuff so far. Was hoping we'd get some Spring like weather but unfortunately not

Another horrible dark, wet miserable morning in Dublin.

Damp drizzling muck again here in Meath. I'm heading up to Newry for the match later on, but I see in the forecast it's going to be the same in east ulster.

Spring like weather in February is fairly difficult to come by, what with it being joint coldest month (with January) of the year. Although spring officially begins on 1st March, I've found that first hint of warmth in the air is usually found closer to the spring equinox....ie, the last third of the month. Occasionally we get a bit of spring warmth before that but the combination of a low sun, cold ground and a (usually) cold atmosphere makes it difficult to achieve.

Having said that, I too am awaiting the first spring like warmth of the year.

was away with work this week. In Madrid a beautiful city. Lovely bright sunny days 15/16 degrees and a nice cool evening and morning. Again the light just fabulous to see. Back home and it’s grey and miserable and that bone chilling dampness and the grey slate.

Yes it's from Met.ie historical database. Filter out only the "0.0" hr days and do a query on periods with consecutive days.

Yesterday was another 0.0 hr day at Dublin Apt though the sun did very briefly appear at sunset, not enough to register a 0.1 so the sunless streak goes on making it now 7 days. That is the longest sunless streak here since January 1987.

Still dark, cloudy and damp here in Meath, just not as cold as previous days.

Another dull sunless day, quite the run of muck in south Dublin. Endless drizzle and fog/mist. I seem to have picked up a cough too, probably from jogging in these conditions all week, feck this damp shíte. I'm done with winter.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Those of ye in the east now know what those of us in Cork have to endure for most of the year. Horrific lack of sun and blue sky.

A truly horrible day in Meath, dark and wet. I went for a walk earlier and ended up getting soaked in the drizzle. I think today is day 9 without any sunshine in the sky. Winter is well and truly over now with blowtorch south-westerlies taking over in a few days with a prolonged spell of mild or very mild weather likely over the next couple of weeks into early March. If you want snow best head to Athens, Greek islands or Turkey over the next 2 weeks.

Dull, dreary, damp ,suicidal weather. Another week of this rubbish. I hope 2025 won't be as dull a yr as 2024 was.

Yeah this dull damp weather has gone beyond a joke now. We better get a good Spring like 2020 to make up for it.

Fortunately a grand day here near Tralee. Some sunshine earlier in the day, cloudy for the most part with a light breeze, got a reading of 14.6C but that might be a bit high although often get that bit of Fohn here from an ESE or SE breeze, a station on WOW not too far from me just on the coast got up to 13.8C, maybe it was accurate here me being about 3 km from the coast. 10C atm.

Very pleasant walking along the shoreline earlier when the sun was peeping in and out and came across an area rich with Sea Anemones.

Not long back from the match in Newry Co. Down . Same dark drizzle as back in Meath with a bitter windchill but at least we came home with a win.

Meteorite, Kerry must be gone soft with the good weather to let the Dubs come back and lick ye like that in your own back yard !

I'd say they are sick, not really a follower myself, I know, a complete outcast, still get the quare looks when I have to declare my lack of knowledge , many a conversation abruptly paused and moved quickly onto the weather 🤣🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 632 ✭✭✭Robwindstorm

No bother Meteorite. Looks like a stunning couple of days you guys got.

I'll have to go on vitamin D supplements due to lack of sunshine 🌞

The sun has made a shocking fleeting appearance in Dublin 13 for the first time since the 7th.

I thought I saw a chink of light this morning between the clouds, but maybe I'm being hysterical 🙂 The clouds are definitely higher and not so thick, and I can see planes taking off from Dublin Airport where I couldn't see them yesterday. At least it's calm
