Has chit chat 11 frozen the last few days?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,539 ✭✭✭DBK1

Fair play, although the thread title should probably be “jumping on” with the way Boards is jumping around the place all the time now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,627 ✭✭✭✭whelan2

It shouldn't jump though as it's only started , hopefully.

I was wondering when the new thread would open. Chitchat 11 was going a while!

The rain in S Kerry/W Cork the last few days has been biblical. I was trimming hedges (chainsaw job) from a basket and we had to stop get out of the fields because we'd destroy them even with wide pads on the digger.

I was going to get a tank of slurry out if we had got finished but it's as well we didn't now as it'd all be gone out past the bull rock at this stage.

We then went at a road that needed rockbreaking and widening, back drains etc, and that's in pure slop now this evening.

Parking up until next week, with hedging, mulching and tree cutting deadline looming large.

Too wet even to gather in sheep from the mountain to dose them, they'll have to wait another few days.

Good job SMN, I wonder can we get the mods to put it up as a permanent sticky?

It's unfortunate that the site has gone haywire in the last few months and more unfortunate that there has been such a delay in fixing it.

I've found it colder now than a few weeks ago during the minus temperatures. The rain we've had has been heavy and icy, the type that'd soak you through quickly.

The wind has been mostly coming from the East which brings colder temperatures.

Sky, how do they get away with the way they treat customers? I'd say they're worse than eir now. My parents availed of a free sky box for a certain age group. Sky couldn't do enough for them when getting it set up. A month later it stopped working. They tried to say the trees in the garden were affecting the signal. My dad spent ages on hold on various days ringing them. I rang a tv guy yesterday morning, he came out and adjusted the dish and all is well again, but they went 6 weeks without tv. I cancelled sky last year , which was a 45 minute call and I still get calls every week to go back. I have them blocked now

I left sky a couple of times moving house etc. I just cancelled the direct debit and they rang me. They are horrible to deal with. Have a dodgy box but it stopped working after the storm for some reason. I know a couple of people that have a dodgy box but never cancelled the sky sports incase the box wouldn't work.

Will say iv dealt with eir a few times in the last couple of years and there has been a massive improvement with the customer care. But if they have to come out you'll be waiting for the technician's.

They are a disaster of a company yo deal with so they are

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,627 ✭✭✭✭whelan2

We've a dodgy box now, ok there's a bit of a delay in coverage but sky were so hard to deal with. Another price increase coming this month. We were paying 120/ month just for tv.

I was half-thinking of getting Sky but reading the experiences on here is putting me off big time.

We have the basic NowTV package (no sports or movies) and Netflix. Around €25/month covers the two of them. There's an aerial on the roof for the Irish and UK channels.

Easier day out there. I found the east wind yesterday was shocking cold

Herself had a policy of ring up sky every 6 months and cancelling and then being offered the sun, moon and stars to stay. it is much easier to accept bad service when paying like 10euro per month.

Between internet & streaming we have enough, mainly for the kids anyway!

Thanks SMN, will make it a sticky when I am on the laptop after dark…. I asked admin to take a look at why our old chit chat thread had calved itself. Will let you know if I find out anything, meanwhile carry on with this one.

Old thread, chit chat 11, closed and can be found here.

But it's the time spent ringing them up, negotiating a deal. Nothing for loyalty. I was with them over 20 years and just got sick of it bring so hard to contact them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89 ✭✭pg141

Yeah… heard that from herself as well, so that's why we finished it. Really Expensive too. Although I must ring virgin media they have put my broadband up to 90euro a month, so add in a few streaming services and could be spending the same amount as Sky now.

Still the worst customer service in the country by about 52 miles is Vodafone… lord god they are bad

I hate asking this, but has everything just got really expensive lately or am I just getting old.

Don't say that!! - I'm about to cancel my SKY TV and move to EIR for the very same reasons of constant unaccountable price rises etc.😟

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,073 ✭✭✭148multi

Wait till you try to cancel EIR

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,627 ✭✭✭✭whelan2

Was talking to a woman who was trying to cancel sky in her father's house as he'd died. 35 minutes she was on for. They even offered her new packages for him

Is there any demand for silage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,091 ✭✭✭mr.stonewall

With a amount of rain due on some of the charts for the next 2 weeks it could put a demand on it. Very little moving around here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭memorystick

I’m half thinking of setting 17 acres for first cut and let them spread the fertiliser. No point in making bales when I’d have 150 from the previous year. I won’t burn up in a hot summer but you never know.

Everything is going & gone up

With the Don across the pond raising & imposing tarriffs like its blanket solution to everything I'd expect inflation to increase & prices go higher.

Getting solar in here, spending a few bob on things that need to be done over the next 2 years & just getting it done now

Everyone complains about the US tariffs, but what would you do, if you were Trump?

When Biden got elected in Jan 2021, US national debt stood at $28 trillion. It's now at $36.2 trillion.

At present 1/4 of all tax take goes to just pay the interest. It's a ticking time-bomb and not just for the USA, but for the world economy.

This is the reality. I see they have a DOGE debt clock now.
