Self install Harvi and CT clamp to add missing "consumed" data on MyEnergi?

    Hi,
Have had Solar installe last year, installer set up a cable but only installed one CT clamp into the Hub.
I was hoping to get someone to simply use the same RJ-45 and connect a second CT clamp to read the missing Consumed data to get ful lpiscture on the MyEnergi app.

I've the v2 Eddi with a relay so in theory could get a sparky to connect the 2nd CT clamp that I already bought (assuming they won't hang up the phone when hearing about such a small job).

Other option would be to self install the Harvi using that 2nd CT clamp if possible.

I'm nt planning on wiring anything myself, just putting the CT clamp around the power cable in the consumer unit.
did anyone do something like that themselves?

    TIA

The installer should have clamped your mains feed at the consumer unit and fed this to the Zappi. This will show you consumed electricity and is required for load balancing your Zappi.

By the looks of your wording this was not done, what can you see on the App? Preferably a screenprint.

@slave1 i should have clarified, I have no Zappi, nor battery at present it's just Eddi which seems to report fine.but can only see exported in the MyEnergi app.

the green shows as 0 all the time

    Anyone has an idea?

Why would you need a second CT?

You should have one CT on the mains incoming. That reads which direction and how much power you are consuming / exporting.

Don't have one going to Eddi. So can't see generation in the app.

It's a disconnect between shine phone showing generated vs eddi showing rest.

MyEnrgi is my preffered app anyway .

AFAIK, the green circle in the middle of it all in my screenshot above is needing a ct clamp back to eddi

You don't need a CT to the Eddi and to the Hub. You just need a CT going to the Hub.

The system just needs to see power going to or from your home. If it sees export it should push the Eddi into action.

That green leaf will show values once you are using solar power to heat water.

From talking to people who have it working you do need eddi seeing what the inverter is passing through.

I don't have the terminology but seen many videos where they install a ct with harvi or directly connected to the eddi using cat6 cable.

Inverter Shineapp can see generation, but MyEnrgi app can't

I'd like to know if anyone self installed harvi?

I think you don't understand how the system works - or you're explaining what you have badly.

A Harvi is a wireless CT. You already have one if you have an Eddi and a hub. Otherwise your myenergi app wouldn't see anything.

The relays in the Eddi have nothing to do with Harvi's nor with CT clamps. They are for switching things like solenoid valves etc.

Probably explaining badly, a ct clamp is needed for MyEnergy to see Eddi consumption and another for solar generation as you know.

Sonce my Eddi has a built in hub, it needs to be collecting data from both.

    Nope, sorry. That's wrong.

The Eddi doesn't need to see solar generation. It just needs to see power export. Once it sees power export it switches on the immersion heater(s) until it sees export stopped.

All you need (and I have this) is a Harvi CT clamp on the main power line (usually in the Meter box outside your house).

From that, the Eddi can see if you are importing or exporting power. Once it sees export it will switch on and heat your hot water.

You will have another CT clamp for the Solar inverter.

I'm not sure what the value would be in having the Eddi 'seeing' another CT clamp and where would that CT clamp actually be?

    EDIT:

Ok, I've gone out and looked at my Eddi. I see you can connect in extra CT clamps. I guess what you want to do is to connect a CT Clamp on the AC line from the inverter?

I guess it will give you a pretty graphic on the myenergi app but it has no practical use that I can see.

It would be pretty easy to do, if you have some clue how to work safely in Low voltage AC. You just need a CT clamp, install on the AC line from the inverter and wire it into the Eddi. Then set the correct option in the Eddi to tell it what the CT Clamp is reporting.

The consumer unit and eddi are tricky to get cables between each other for me, hence the question about Harvi, wirelessly doing it is the only non destructive way

Here's the wired way, going from the CU to the Eddi to get the graphics that I want in MyEnergi, he explains the benefits of a fully functional MyEnergi app

I did similar. It’s very easy to do. Added a harvi and put a ct on cable from the solar inverter. I added a second ct on separate battery inverter. It logs solar fine which is great but can only see battery in the graphic. Myenergi won’t store stats for non myenergi devices

Thanks, would you have a photo of the ct at inverter?

I assume it's the one that populated the missing middle circle in the MyEnergi app

My inverters go back to a small CU in my shed so it’s on the cable off the rcbo in that unit.
the middle circle is just a percentage. When you add the solar ct it adds a new icon for the panels

I see, so there's no CT clamp around the inverter itself, I was hoping it's possible.

Ive only one CT for grid in the single consumer unit, far from the inverter and eddi (my vHub) so hoping to get eddi and the inverter connected directly but doesn't seem possible

What's the bottom battery icon, I haven't noticed that before?

You don't need to CT clamp at the inverter, just anywhere along that cable from inverter to consumer unit, where it comes into the consumer unit is fine

    Growatt Hybrid 5Kw Inverter Right.jpg

What's the 2 holes marked connector I wonder? AC side of the inverter above, a candidate for a Generation ct clamp?

Not only do I not see an L wire near the inverter, the two RJ45s seem to disapear in the white trunking box there.
One goes to the Eddi and the other to the Grid (old photo of CU, it's closed off now):

I have a water diverter but it wasn’t an eddi. The only option is to add another store

Ct just needs to go somewhere on the live in or out of the solar rcbo. If the ct clamp in there is going back to the eddi through the cat 5 then there should be spare wires in that you can use to also connect new ct to eddi

Thanks, got a sparkie to quote 220 plus vat to connect the ct clamp somewhere tbc.

I'll hold off if can't self install until I've a few things that need doing as not that important to me to spend 260 on
