Because in my opinion, it is cowardly.

Running a fundraiser anonymously is not the same as donating to one anonymously.

GFM should not facilitate anonymous fundraisers in the first place. Donators' should always be able to look up the person who is in charge of the funds their donating.

I’m not - just saying if he knows about this fundraiser and he hasn’t endorsed it, then the logical thing to do would be to report it

I have been getting him as a friend suggestion for at least a couple of months, now. I don't think I've ever posted about him or his family on there, and I don't know anyone who follows him there. It's clearly something he/they have paid for!

Is there not a requirement for the Go Fund Me organization to insist on some basic personal details of the person/s [confirmed names and addresses] seeking funding so that fraud is not carried out against the donors, dishonouring the Go Fund Me name and system, with said details also kept for investigation by anti-fraud Police units?

It would seem to me to be an oversight of major proportions if one did not insist on verified personal details being provided to allow a fund to be set up for a particular purpose.

If you ever searched for him on bookface or watched one of his bookface videos, that would be enough to trigger it - or a page associated with the burkes would also trigger it

Completely false equivalence between seeking and giving donations…but I suspect you knew that in fairness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,901 ✭✭✭✭ohnonotgmail

you would certainly hope so. that doesnt stop some people from trying it on. It has just occurred to that some ne'er do well, who is opposed to burkery, could setup a gofundme for them. not to raise money for the Burkes, or to profit financially themselves, but simply to mess with the heads of the Burkes and their followers. It would take a sick and twisted mind to do that though. I'm disappointed in myself that i didnt think of it first.

It could even be dodgy to use an alias to set up such an account. However, the ancient tome might be a good place to find a good name to cover one's tracks.

A blind man would have been able to see even last year that the courts were eventually going to claw at any assets. If he had a legal advisor he would have been advised of that. Any solicitor worth their salt would have warned him of such as a possibilty. More than likely he's probably one of these people that gets his advice from American based Facebook groups or other groups and believes in 'free speech' and 'representing himself' in court. I don't know what they think or believe really. If he had a proper solicitor her would have been warned about this. His sister must be useless in law.

The family will be completely unemployable from now on. The teacher who is awful at comprehension and sets an awful example towards young people by being so unruly. A solicitor in the family who has just allowed her brother's savings to be clawed at and some who protested in America by thinking it's trump's problem instead of going down proper legal review channels here in Ireland.

Hear what you’re saying, but I think they knew this was going to come and this makes him look a poor martyr in the eyes of the ones that think he’s in the right and it’s all to do with transgender and give mammy more of a platform to shout about, prior to this the media well had gone dry and now they have another thing to put them back in the spotlight, the longer this drags out it suits their agenda.

I tend to agree with you. They think it will increase the sympathy for them.

again you’re assuming he’s out here playing 4D chess- Enoch is not a step ahead at any stage here so why would he have been with the money?

Why didn’t he hide it or distribute it? I mean probably because he genuinely and truly thinks he’s done nothing wrong. You’ve heard them say it a hundred times; God is on their side and blah blah.

These guys have convinced themselves they are on a mission of righteousness for God almighty and no man on earth will stop them for they have GOD. It’s not just an act this is what these people believe. They will do anything they feel is necessary to appease God and I’m sure fully believe a prayer and a blessed candle is more than sufficient to stop the evil judges from taking Enoch “Good Man of God” Burke’s money away from him.

Essentially like any other religious person they believe that if they do the right thing then only good things will happen. I’m sure they view this entire situation and any before it as simply God testing them.

    They’re bloody lunatics like.

tomorrow will be something I imagine. I’m almost upset I’m working I’d nearly love to go see the scenes at the high court tomorrow. 🤣

Pardon me for not keeping up to date with the Burke family doings but what is on tomorrow for them in the Courts? I cant assume its solely to do with the receiver.

Enoch has his day to argue against the garnishee order and historically he’s not very well behaved in court.

Thanks. I hope the court service has brought in extra Nurofen for the staff and the judge.

Edit. Penny dropped, the Tuesday mention by Judge Nolan from last week advising EB to have all his ducks in a row.

This particular judge has taken no nonsense to date or very little relative to the previous circuses - I would bet next months salary that Enoch will be given one chance and one chance only to state his case, and if he doesn’t he’ll find himself minus 40k and any future salary he’s due whilst his legal case drags on, very quickly.

What time is he due in court?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,076 ✭✭✭Raichų

checked the court diary, Judge David Nolan is hearing inherent jurisdiction @ 10am then hearings and etc are at 11am and 2pm for mentions.

I’m gonna assume they’re part of the 11am hearings so should know more by late lunch time I’d say.

Half the journalists in Dublin will need earplugs today between covering Enoch in court and the row in the Dáil later.

RTE has reported the court has ordered BOI holding Enoch Burke's account to turn the 40 thousand Euro in the account over to the court service and turn any other information it has about Mr Burke to the AG. There may be thoughts that EB has more than one deposit with BOI, not necessarily in cash form. It seems the judge did not listen to or pass comment on anything irrelevant that Burke was saying while the judge was issuing his order. Obviously more details of the court proceeding will become public soon, through the media and the Burkes.

I also note in the rte article that any previous movement of funds will be followed...

The court also granted the order sought by Senior Counsel, Brian Kennedy, on behalf of the Attorney General seeking discovery against Bank of Ireland.

Mr Kennedy said this was to show if Mr Burke had any other bank accounts, or if there had been any dissipation of assets or removal of assets since the court imposed the fines.

Well the Burkes' reports of the court proceeding won't be worth the paper Enoch's bank statement will be printed on soon. "This illegal judge took Enoch's money illegally because of transgenderism!"

I would say he likely has money in another account too, if he's been reportedly saving for a house for a few years, and then also getting paid for the last few years even when his accommodation, food and toiletries have been paid for by the taxpayer by way of Mountjoy prison. Maybe his bank statements will show if he's been directing money elsewhere.

It probably won't change Enoch's behaviour much.

But at least it claws back some of the time and expense wasted by the various courts dealing with Enoch. Which are ultimately it's paid by the taxpayer.

What should be interesting is if other judges hearing EB's cases follow the Judge Nolan style when responding verbally to EB in court room exchanges. The way EB's brother was responded to in respect to his contempt by taking silence to indicate a change from contempt to compliance with court procedure is excellent by way of denying the defendant the choice of response.

According to the Indo, Enoch actually said to the judge "can you not just grow up a little bit please?". Words fail me.

oh this is lovely - well done Judge

“When Mr Burke continued to ignore this plea, Mr Justice Nolan said: “I am the one who dictates what happens in this court. I am afraid Mr Burke I have run out of patience with you.”

“The teacher continued to talk loudly as the judge rose from the bench and left the court.Looking slightly bemused, Mr Burke asked: “Is he coming back?”

Looking slightly bemused, Mr Burke asked: “Is he coming back?”

I'd have paid good money to witness that.

Why have Enoch's fines gone down in value? I thought he'd racked up way north of €80k
