Sounds like a rock could “accidentally” smash your rear window very soon assuming you’ve full glass cover with your insurance ?

Install Tune in on your phone, make sure its up to date. Hit the Google mic on android auto say 'OK Google play 2FM from tune in' . Works flawlessly never had an issue and can ask for any other station.

Not sure what app you need ?

Collected my car on Friday from the dealership, I asked about the 1.4 updated and I was told it will come in the next couple of weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,341 ✭✭✭✭listermint

But how was your weekend with it. What mileage you put on it ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 DANLL

    Absolutely brilliant!! 354KM.

The car drives so well and smooth, the suspension is top notch, and the acceleration is class.

Definitely ppl turn their heads when seeing the car as it is a really good looking car.

Managed to access youtube via Browser and played a quick movie trailer, and the sound… WOW!!!! Waiting while charging will be a blast, with a screen like that and the sound system.

I managed to get the reverse charging cable from the dealership for free too, after I said " oh I though the car was coming with 3 cables". Thanks to whoever posted that info a few days ago here. (Not sure when I am going to ever use it, but I guess it's good to have)

Ps, I have seen a good few of us driving around already while driving mine, so it's becoming a popular model.

Is yours already on 1.3? Might be worth checking. Mine wasn't when I collected in February (despite saying to the dealership I didn't mind waiting longer if all updates and recalls were done before collection).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 DANLL

Yeah, I did the update to 1.3 on Friday after I collected the car. Took about 20 mins.

I got it confirmed this morning that a new rear windscreen will be in production with a better Aerial and it will be covered under warranty as a recall. They said it had been tested and confirmed in Dublin and how waiting on production and stock.

You're making the assumption that Internet coverage is flawless in Ireland. It is not. My journey to work daily consists of AT LEAST 4 instances of buffering resulting in those damn ads playing again interrupting the segments and missing 30-60 seconds at least each time.. very annoying. If there is a better app or way I'm all ears.

I've tried a few apps and TuneIn has been the best but not flawless.

    Spotify works alot better.

Android Auto works great about 95% of the time but does someone take time to auto connect.

Jeez,an expensive and time consuming recall that for BYD- a needless screw-up even?

1 you never mentioned reception you just said app.

    I gave you an app.

Never had data reception issues myself we drive all over Ireland, it's got over 32k on it now. Be rare for us to have issues with connection tbh.

Thanks, Wexford guys have ordered 10 and I put my name down for 1 to be replaced under recall, the radio app will also be updated so it can be use the new aerial, to allow searching for stronger signal, whilst listening to broadcast,

an app works but there are drops along the M11 after the Gorey bypass that affect the data, which not perfect. Also the phone gets hot as it’s doing the Wise and radio and charging wirelessly so would be better to have a native app,

Also the navigation in the update is meant to be now linked to google so you can look for a business and it will put into the native nav app, first thing I asked so it will do eircodes he wasn’t sure. Would be nice if it did.

You've ordered 10 rear windscreens, you've a lot of Seals then!

congratulations and very best with the car.

I’ve used the V2L cable a few times when the electricity went out. Ran an extension lead from it into the house, and it’s runs the basics (microwave, air fryer, fridge, TV, WiFi, stand lights etc). A kettle is right at its limit, but I got a low wattage one (600watts), which runs perfectly with the other things mentioned.
It’s definitely worth having. It consumed approximately 8% of the battery for a 24hour period (16% over 2 days), using those basic items above.

Surely if the antenna is in the top part of the rear window, then it would be fair to assume that there is a physical link between this and the head unit in the car so it must be feasible to 'bolt on' something discrete under the head liner to enhance reception as opposed to removing complete rear window? I'd be reluctant to go down the 'remove & replace' road anyway as not sure how they could integrate a 'better' antenna into the glass, over and above what is there already. Last thing I want is a poorly resealed unit resulting in potential water ingress.

Does your phone shutdown in the warm weather as well when running Waze and using the wireless charger ? It's happened me quite a few times over the last few days. Surely this shouldn't be happening, will end up frying the phone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,341 ✭✭✭✭listermint

You shouldn't be running screen and process GPS hungry apps like waze whilst also wireless charging. Your creating alot of heat in all the wrong places. Phones have limits. You're better off plugging in usb c if using GPS apps like waze and screen on time.

Its normal for the devide to protect itself from the heat build up on the rear.

I have turner off my wireless charging pads, my phone case has a magnet at the back and I nearly burned my self the other day. So I think it's better to use a cable to avoid the phone to overheat.

After a year with my Seal RWD, had first long trip from Cork to Dublin and back. Firstly, so comfortable to drive the distance and AutoPilot worked well on motorway. However, not for the first time had issues with public charging. Stopped in Junc 14 on way up as was getting food. Connected to fast ESB charger but dropped to 4kw after about 1 min. Unplugged and tried another charger but same happened. Was overnight in carpark with Monta 7kw charger so plugged in for the night. In morning discovered shut off after only adding in 7kw - checked app but no settings to turn off. Had to stop in Dublin at ABB 50kw charger and got consistent 43kw. Had issues previously with chargers so stopped in Fermoy at 300kw chargers to check charging - started at about 40kw but dropped quickly to 4kw. Tried 3 different chargers and all tje same. Anyone else having issues with public charging? Works perfectly with home charger. Have service booked for May so will get them to check as cannot be right that 90+% of chargers dont work with my car.

Have had a few issues but only the same specific chargers.

Someone suggested cables can be faulty, can you borrow a cable from someone else with an EV and recheck 1 of those chargers you have issue with?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Brianod73

On the fast chargers it was using the cable with the chargers. Tried about 5-6 different chargers with different powers and so far just the 1 that worked ok. Not sure if maybe a software issue or connecion problem as home charger works perfect everytime.

Many reports of dodgy DC charging in the UK - apparently a serious issue with those frequently fast charging the Seal. Seems to be tied in with battery temperature, and I guess temps here have dropped again last couple of days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 350 ✭✭Buttros

I go up and down the M7/M8 regularly. Haven't really had issues. At junction 14 got 70 kw today. Get over 100 there and at ionity cashel sometimes. I think it's temperature dependent but I'm sure there are more factors at play. Have used portlaoise also (AG and Ecars) no problems in general. Once or twice got slow slow speeds that's from 50 plus uses.

Installed the dashcam last night. I know I should have fired the tag into the space under the mirror when I was doing it as well. A job for this evening. Can someone put me out of my misery as to what the circle with the black dots is. I've seen it on other videos on line as well.

    Hi all,

Has anyone experienced problems with their wipers? Mine weren’t working this morning, even though I just picked up the car from the showroom on Friday. I’ve tried everything—turning the car on and off, testing all wiper settings, and using the cleaning function to unblock them but nothing worked.

The only thing different I did today was to turn on the heated seats and the aircon from remote.

I’ll bring the car back to the dealership today for a check. Any insights or similar experiences would be appreciated!

It's the speaker grill on the dashboard reflected off the windscreen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,341 ✭✭✭✭listermint

Explain 'not working' as in they were not going up and down , moving at all ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 DANLL

Not moving whatsoever, and I tried as well navigating the screen to put them wipers on the cleaning position, and they didn't move either. (tried auto, slow, fast etc and no movement)

I had a month of public only charging so really got a chance to test this.

When on motorway and the battery is at operating temp I always get a decent charging speed.

Slow speeds were almost always due to lack of pre conditioning in my experience. Happened many times for me. Ability to precondition via a button in the car (like other manufacturers) would make a big difference.
