    steven lynch:quality.

I came down to the breakfast table
    Felt like I could cry
I tried so hard but wasnt able
To look you in the eye

For I am feeling so much shame
    Yes I have brought disgrace
Can tell I soiled my good name
By the look upon your face

    Well it seems last night
    That'chu caught me spankin
    And no use denying it
    Well I was really crankin
    It wasn't my fault
And it wouldnt be so bad
If you could just forgive me
    And talk to me dad

    [Talk to me dad]

No I didn't hear you enter
No I didn't hear the door
With my hand apon my mamoran
My pants up on the floor
    Now burnt into your brain
    Is an image you dispise
My blood and guts and starvin kids
    And Stevie Wonder's eyes

    Well it seems last night
    That'chu caught me spankin
    And no use denying it
    I was really crankin it
    Well dry your eyes
    Don't be so sad
But I wouldnt use those tissues
    They've already been had

    [Talk to me dad]

Yea the look upon your face
    Made my swollen glademinish
So I said could you close the door
    I really want to finnish
    Now daddy Im ashamed
    And I completly understand
If you never want to hug again
    Or even shake my hand

    Well it seems last night
    That'chu caught me spankin
    And no use denying it
Well I was really crankin it
    Well please calm down
    And don't get mad
Now just because it was your bed
    It's not that bad

    [It's not that bad]

    [Not that bad]

    [Talk to me dad] WOO

    When I was only 17
You told me it was dirty
So it must be really creepy when
    Your kid is pushing 30
But you cannot tell me dad
    You've never had a wack
At the thing that hangs below your belt
    And bunks into your sack

    Well it seems last night
    That'chu caught me spankin
    And no use denying it
    Well I was really crankin
    Now dry your eyes
    And dont be sad
But I wouldnt use those tissues
    They've already been
Now just because it was your bed
    It's not that
    Rascils in wesstorshimine at o'9
    Ocean Township on Friday

    [Oh yeah]

I'm inclined to side with the OP on this one. Nice and progressive. No instrument is overused. Well constructed and rounded.

I'm not the biggest Coldplay fan around. Chris' voice nearly bottoms out at "stuck in reverrr....errrrrse" and I don't think he's a very talented singer, but song-wise, Fix You is up there, as the OP said, for many many reasons.

Mentioned a few weeks ago in a similar thread..

.. Death Cab For Cutie "I Will Follow You Into The Dark"

Truly fantastic song but with some of my favourite lyrics in a long time:
Love of mine some day you will die
    But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark

No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
    If heaven and hell decide
    That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
    When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son fear is the heart of love"
    So I never went back

    If heaven and hell decide
    That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
    When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

You and me have seen everything to see
    From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
    It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
    The blackest of rooms

    If heaven and hell decide
    That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
    When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark

I agree with you, Death Cab's "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" is a great song. I like The Killers' Somebody told me... and John Mayer's Daughters, although I think that may have came out in 2004. :)

I think Green Day's Wake Me Up When September Ends was quite a good song but that may have been because two of my relatives died in the month

Attack and BYOB/Revenga by System of a Down have really clicked with me, but my favourite, I think, has to be Abduction by Bruce Dickinson. Tyranny of Souls is a pretty poor album but that's a class track...

    Could be changed though...

well its true.listen to most Irish radio stations, and they are all playing the same pop songs. Anyway this isnt the place for this debate.

Somebody has to let them know.

I just think it's amazing that people can call themselves music fans when they make no attempt whatsoever to expose themselves to music outside of the radio playlists.

how would you know what someone exposes or doesn't expose themself to? just because a favourite track of someone's happens to make a radio playlist doesn't mean they AREN'T a music fan. in fact, i'd say that's a pretty presumptuous accusation on your part.

hmmm, well, i guess ignorance is bliss...
