Worth the 30 yoyos extra. Kompletts agp selection is pretty bad.

Any of the ones here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/6800_Series.html . never bought of overclockers.

    Or

http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=605232 Dealt with tekheads before seemed fine to deal with.

Thanks man they look pretty decent, would you suggest nvidia over ati for battlefield or is it 6 of one??

When you autorun bf2 and the little menu comes up, doesn`t it have links to nvidia drivers site? That to me suggests EA prefere nvidia. Or maybe I`m blind and there are catalyst links too, not sure!

Nvidia are EA's bitches or vice versa. Go nvidia i'd say.

Yeah for EA stay to nvidia. Some games perfer ATI like the half life engin and Black and white 2. If i rember from the minium config though it runs on more low end ati cards than low end nvidia. My gforce 4 ti4600 wont run it but my crappy ATi card does, strange that.

    Yeah nVidia all the way.

I have a 6800 GT, and bought another 6800 GS for the other PC from Komplett who do great deals, and theyre in Ireland , so check them out deffo.

I know its expensive, but if i were you id save an extra 30 quid and get the 6800 GS.

The drastic, but best option for long term, would be a PCI-E motherboard and and a PCI-E Gfx card. As thats the future of Gfx cards, all the future ones will be developed with PCI-E in mind

From what i've read teh 6800GS is the best AGP card at the moment.
Komplette(scandinavian), jes-computer (german) both set the thumbs up from boards people to buy off.

Yeah i'll prob get a 6800GS if my current graphics card can't be revived!! Goin buyin a zalman fan and trying that as it is a lot cheaper than the new graphics card option!!! Thanks guys

Don't know if you picked up the Zahlmann idea from my reply to your post about your maybe-fried gfx card, but feel free to drop me a pm if you need a hand when you get that :)

Does anyone know the difference between the GS and the GT...

just bought the GT but ppl have been sayin the gs is better...

there both quality either way but as Sean saidit would be better if u upgraded ur motherboard to pci-express because very few companies are making components with agp in mind...

Well I guess that the GS is supposed to be better as it's the model that replaces the GT, though IMHO 'btter' is a very personal thing these days.

The only reason the GS is replacing the GT is because it's cheaper to make than the GT.

The GS has 12 pipelines vs the GT, the only reason it can keep up with the GT at the moment is that the GS is clocked higher than the GT.

In the long run a GT will age better: it has more pipelines.

The GS will have a good year but after that will begin to fade quicker in performance than the GT due to having 4 pipelines less than the GT.

Have a look at a x850xt. It's the fastest card you can buy in agp for D3D games. Theres one for 200 sterling on overclockers.co.uk. An x800xl is also a dacent card and stacks up well against a 6800GT/GS.

ATI cards always seem to age very well. Look at the 9700 and 9800 series of cards. They can still hold their own at 1024 x 768.

A new 6600Gt is not much faster than a 9800 pro at that res.

Nvidia always seem to make the cards that are fast now, but in 6 months to a years time start to bleed performance in the later games.

Ati always seem to make cards that age really well. They don't start off at the fastest performance in the market but never seem to drop as much in performance in the later games as the nvidia stuff.

All in all ATI are always worth a look.

This is always a useful site.

It compares the GT and GS in regards to BF2 (and other cards and other games)
