buying a plant just to watch it die

a mate of mine did this recently, refused to feed it or water it or put it in light.
This, according to him, is the logical step up from letting characters die in the Sims. I'm guessing this isn't a positive life pattern to be entering into. Should I be worried?

Is your friend under 20 years of age perchance? I'm guessing 17.

You can bring people back to life in the Sims. Don't think there is any Resurrect-O-Nomitron for plants, though. Ten Hail Marys for your friend. :v:

Tell me. Is he emo? Has he been writing bad poetry?

    Sounds like a total poseur.

You guys just don't understand his pain. We need to read his MySpace.

OP, I wouldn't be overly concerned. I too recently killed a plant but it was more to do with forgetting to water it. Your mate probably did the seem and if he didn't it does strike me as attention-seeking/emo more than anything else.

If hes around 15-19 hes an emo. Does he comb his hair to one side at the front!!? Attention seeking really.

Now, now, please don't be so quick to judge. Sure my sister has a biological warfare lab in her fridge.

Keep watering it and feeding it Baby Bio on the sly, just to annoy him.

    Seriously, just ask him "why?".

Did he actually say he was buying it to watch it die? If he did, Shabadu makes a good point.

I have a collection of cacti on my shelf for the simple reason I would forget to water plants regulary enough.

Not so long ago I had a shelf of dead plants, if a friend asked me why they were dying, that's something I would probably say to wind them up...

My point basically, people do strange things, and to be honest, if somebody else told me that I would not really notice or care. Everybody has their quirks.

Perhaps. Has he been watching Seven a few too many times lately? That would be another danger sign.

Oh no! Don't do that, he might actually tell you his reasons and then you'll end up wishing you were the plant.

I dunno, "Childish, Angsty, Attention Whore, Emo Kid" rhymes with Cactus.

When I read the thread title I thought to myself, "hmmm buying a plant just to watch it die, that could be interesting!"

And I don't listen to punk music or any of that other crap 'emo kids' carry on with :)

I've always had a genuine curiousity with death, not in any manner of dark depressing anxty kinda way, curious as to the actual process of passing from life to death, the biological change, perhaps the same is true of your friend.

putting the dead plant in a garden will help fertilise the soil and bring life to other plants.
