Trainee Accountant Jobs - Help?

    Hey,

I'm studying for a degree in Accounting and luckily I've managed to secure a training contract for when I finish college. However, one of my friends is having problems getting past the appliations stage - his results over the last few years were quite poor, but his CA so far this year is at a 1.1 honours level.

I was wondering does anyone know of good places to apply which won't necessarily look at his results, or will give him an interview regardless? Or where is good to look for trainee jobs? Preferably looking for jobs in Dublin City Centre, but anywhere will do really.

    Thanks :)

    Maybe this?

    Trainee Accountant

Trainee accountant required. Applicant needs Business Studies degree minimum 2.1, with good exemptions. We offer a 3 1/2 year training contract with paid study leave and all exam fees paid.

This job starts in September 2006.

DKC on the docks have a great training for newbies.

My friend works in there and she highly recommends it.

In Accounting you need to apply to every accountant in Dublin. I sent off over 100 cover letters and CV in the North east here and only got 5 interviews, most came back with rejections that we are not currently looking for staff etc.

I only going got a pass degree in accounting and i work for one of the biggest accounting firms in the North east and a word of advice, the experience you get is worth ten times more than the theory you learn at uni or college.

I got my finals with the ACCA at Christmas at my first attempt. Another years work experience and ill be fully qualified at the age of 23. Degree results are important but shouldnt effect your job prospecs unless you want to work for the Big 4.

The only bit of advice is to start getting your CV out to every accountant in the area that you are interested in working in.
