'only likes soft ground, only does well in small fields, dodgy jumper, cant jump at speed etc etc '

Im not out to try and argue against the people who have said the above because they are not wrong but are not entirely correct either, they are only saying what they have seen him do in relation to doing well in soft ground and small fields in Ireland and not being able to cope with jumping at speed and the good ground at cheltenham.

His cheltenham flops have been well documented

So this time at the 4th attempt........

HE'S IN PERFECT HEALTH (please God:rolleyes:)
    HIS BACK PROBLEM IS SORTED....

Quite simply- tommorrow is the day for him to go out there and show everybody what he is made of... I believe he'll do the business....

    Best of luck :)

Baracouda, SpottheDifference, Kauto Star, Racing Demon and Beef or Salmon.

    Carl Llewellyn:
I just can't believe Beef Or Salmon is going to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday.

He has consistently run well in the past in small fields in Ireland but has disappointed when he came over to Prestbury Park.

He is set to go off favourite, but is more like a 16-1 chance to me.

Instead I think that Monkerhostin will win the race.

He produced a great effort in the King George at Sandown when a close second to Kicking King and I think he could have beaten the winner if he had got his run going a bit earlier.

He has the best credentials for this race and would be a short-price favourite here if he had won that day.

I don't think he will have any problem with the trip, he jumps well and has been running really consistently in all the top handicaps.

Going into the race he has the best form, has form at the track and also goes on all types of ground bar very soft - which I am sure it won't be on Friday. He is the one they all have to beat.

I ride Ollie Magern and it is fair to say he has had an up-and-down season.

He started off very well at Wetherby in the Charlie Hall Chase but has had a few setbacks since but is back in really good form.

If he came back to the Wetherby form he could make them all go.

But I would make Monkerhostin my banker of the week.

War of Attrition is still only going one way in the odds.

B or S is my bismark for the entire meeting, he is a cracking horse but he simply doesn't act at Cheltenham. I wonder what excuses connections will come up with when he fails this time?
He only failed at the ground once. I don't think a fall can be regarded as a fail, it can happen to anyone on any ground. His 4th to Best Mate was apparantly after "Six months worth of work in six weeks". Even if he runs like that again he'll probably win today.

Seems so open. McCoy has an interesting runner and Forget the Past is also highly fancied but the 2 Im going for are Hedghunter (which I backed ANTEPOST at 22/1) and One Knight. I really like these 2 horses and I think conditions today will suit both of them very much. You can except One Knight to lead from the front. Beef or Salmon must be opposed. Its extremely poor value in such a big field and risk of it falling is a huge negative.

My selections are Hedgehunter and One Knight both ew at > 20/1.

I think War of attrition could run a big race in the GC. Mouse has said horse is fitter for this race.
Dont think BoS will do it.

BoS had a terrible race. It was never going to run good today. It has never performed at cheltenham and expecting it to perform today was clutching at straws. If it was to have a chance it should have been a front runner, instead it was kept at the back of the field and attempted to close in late on in the race. It was either a bad ride by the jockey or the horse was buggered. Either way, expecting BoS to be able to come off the pace with the hills at cheltenham is ridiculous. It could have been a totally different story if the horse was more involved up front.
