Ryan Tubridy's Bus Joke

Anyone watching Ryan Tubridy at the weekend? While introducing comedian Joe Rooney he rambled on something that went along the lines of "...Father Damo.... he's from Meath...blah blah..." Then there was a puase and he said "you should see the size of the bus"...No one seemed to laugh.

Does anyone know what this was a reference to?? Also I thought this was an extremely insensitive comment (whatever it meant) in respect to the Navan bus tragedy.... You may say I am over-analysing but I suppose its one of those 'You'd have to be there' kind of things... just seemed a bit odd..

    No one seemed to laugh.

Perhaps you're just overlooking the most likely reason?

why? what happened was indeed a very sad incident but to say a joke about a bus in Co. Meath is insensitive is crazy

Of course its crazy! That is like saying you cant joke about aircraft in NY!

Thats the point - it wasnt a joke but more of a comment or something ... It was the timing and context which I didnt understand... If I had a clip of it, I'd attach it...

Is there something else that relates buses to County Meath, or some joke about buses and Meath People I am missing?

maybe he was talking about the size of Joe Rooney's tour bus, that more likely than not was parked in Rte whilst taping the show...

I think the most likeley reason is the fact that Ryan Tubridy is an unfunny little twat in a suit thats too big for him and he cant tell ajoke.

And I thought I over analysed everything  .......
When he mentioned that his next guest was from Meath etc. a good few people in the crowd cheered loudly so he paused until they had finished (as he couldn't be heard over them). He then said "you should see the size of the bus" - making reference to the amount of people that must have been there from Meath (due to the cheering)......

What was he comparing the size of the bus to?...pffft sounds more a crap joke than it having something to do with sensitive meath people and a bus tragedy

You're right Seebee, I watched it and he was referring to the Meath crowd in the audience.

    Saintly.

Well Ryan tubridy couldn't tell a joke to save his life, and most of comedy is timing, so i think that explains everything.

Well I guess that clears that up then. A few comedy lessons are needed alright...

    Cheers!

I very much doubt that it was referring to the accident.

Ryan Tubridy is not funny, don't be surprised if noone laughs in future.

Was nothing to do with the bus tradegy!!!
For people who dont know - bus is also a slang name as such for a car! Remember the mag FlushBus?? Was a modified car magazine.

I very, very much doubt tubridy was calling Joe Rooneys car a "bus".
Unless Ryan Tubridy is into the modified car scene, which I very, very much doubt he is.

Ryan Tubberdy is like a slighty more offensive version of Daniel O'Donnell.

Perhaps the f**kwit was referring to a bus (coach) that may have brought the sizable Meath contingent to the studio for the show. I didn't see the show in question though - I wouldn't watch him period as the sight and sound of him makes me cringe.

No i doubt he is into the modified scene myself - just stating that a car can be referred to as a bus also!!
And i doubt he was referrering to the Navan bus crash either.

Bus crash that killed five schoolgirls almost a year ago. http://www.rte.ie/news/2005/0523/rta01.html

Anyway, he was referring to the size of the hypothetical bus that brought up the Meath crowd. Anyone imagining a crude Kentstown Crash reference is simply overanalysing. I'm from Meath myself and such a correlation didn't even hit me until I read this thread.

As soon as I heard it I said to the wife that he's dropped a clanger.

Then I went to the pub and didn't think of it since. Think it was just stupid and completely unwitting.
