If the light on the floppy is on continuously, then the floppy ribbon cable in plugged into the drive backwards. Make sure the red strip is lined up with pin 1. If thats what you mean by the light being on! Otherwise, don't mind me!

Check if it will read a normal bootdisk and work with that, if not check the cables again and make sure it looks ok.

Yeah, remembered that one from my FAS training days! XP, especially Pro is a bit funny for special drivers. You shouldn't have any problems getting them from nVidia.

sometimes u have the option to browse to a different drive ( CD , USB ) to look for the drivers... would be far more reliable than a floppy disc to use this option if u have the option......

txtsetup.oem should be in the orignal file folder for the SATA RAID controller driver.

The following files are what should be on the floppy disk.

it is in the folder but silly windows couldnt find it, i've now copied the files in the folder to outside the folder on the floppy...that seemed to work it found and seem to accessthem install them (where does it install them to?) but then when i continued to install windows it just says it can't find any hard drives!!!! losing it now on to google i go....

You don't copy the 'folder' to the floppy, you copy the files 'within' the folder onto the root of the floppy.

When you press F6 and it reads the floppy it finds the driver for the SATA RAID controller & interrogates it for hard drives attached. After you've selected your RAID array* and formatted it Windows then copies it's files to begin the install of XP to the hard drive.

During this process it also copies the files from the floppy disk to the hard drive & integrates the driver into the XP install. That's why after the reboot when you switch to the hard drive as your primary boot it loads XP which then starts installing the operating system.

*If you have properly setup your RAID array you will see the volume listed along with an approximate total space available in the array, just select it and press enter and the create partition & format with NTFS (quick).

Take a look at this guide with pictures (scroll down to the bottom to see)

Edit: Just noticed stevejazzx got the system up & running in another thread : )

Nice guide. Think I'll add it to FAQ.
