If they were bought with a credit card the persons name would be on them. I cant really tell if it is or not but it doesnt look like it.

Looks like it was bought by credit card to me. Although I can't quite see if there is a name printed on the right side I'm pretty sure that if the tickets were bought in a shop and not off the internet there wouldn't be the 'fake ticket' attached to the real ones telling how much they cost etc...

its very dodgy buying off someone with no feedback, but wouldn't the 11 euro service charge correspond to a credit card purchase?

500 quid?? Some people have far too much money.

  • The seller looks fine..

However, you shouldn't encourage touting by buying off serial touters.

Enjoy the festival all the same.

the seller has e-mailed me pictures of the tickets and reciept along with the credit card minus the number. It has been bought by credit card. what are the risks involved in buying a ticket bought with credit card? Can they be cancelled and reissued or something? I am goin to contact ticketmaster and give them the serial number. If they say it's okay can he just cancel it and get it reissued or something??

    Thanks..

BTW its 500 euro for 2 tickets, thats 250 each..

I think your stuck between a rock and a hard place! I'd check out what TM's policy is with tickets bought of eBay (official and otherwise). They may not play ball. They generally don't cancel and reissue tickets as it could lead to two sets of tickets (that look and are genuine) in circulation and with bar code readers somebody is going to get left on the door step.

I notice that at the Ryder Cup the organisers are insisting on photo ID to be presented with tickets. Can we see this at the turnstiles of your favourite festival?

Yeah - he can cancel you tickets if he likes, or worse again, they could have been bought with a stolen card in which case they're already useless.

Chances are though that they're the genuine article that should just work.

Serial touter? am i seeing things or is this not the sellers one and only transaction to date??

The fact that it is means that bad feedback may not mean much to him, thats normally what keeps sellers in line.

Apart from that credit cards companies have a dispute policy for online transactions, you should contact yours for info, normally within 90 days you can raise a dispute and can get your money refunded.

Also paypal have built in protection schemes, but i'm not sure if that applies in this case.

The chances are it will work out though, good luck

I have just won two electric picnic tickets on ebay.. And I am just curious as to how they were paid for..
I wouldn't exactly call paying 500 quid for tickets worth ~300... winning, per se.

A guy that I used to work with got stung at ****** last year after buying tickets from a tout/random stranger/friend of a friend (can't quite remember) that were bought with a stolen credit card. He spent the first day of the gig in a police cell for his troubles.

I reckon the OP will be fine though, the seller on ebay seems to have given him a lot of information.

It actually says on the Electric Picnic tickets that Photo ID is required so I suppose if they wanted to get think about it they could refuse admission if your ID didn't match the name on the ticket or at least or if the person that bought them wasn't there with you. Although I very much doubt would ever happen.

Exactly. So therefore he's not a serial touter.

be very aware of this. i purchased tickets for hi:fi off this website that were refunded credit card tickets. thought i was getting a good deal but me and my mate ended up having to pay again to get into the concert.

it was the first time ive been stung with this but electric picnic is sold out and you wont get into the concert. this warning has been posted on the electric picnic website

just to note - myself my brother and sister bought ours online with credit card. somehow they've missed us in the post so my brother has to drop in on saturday to collect them - where they just cancel the previous barcode and issue us with new ones, so the previous tickets can't be used.

its all too easy for it to be done like.

Haha. It's all a bit confusing now.

Joziah Clean Thermostat was saying in his post that the guy selling the ticket seemed fine but he was telling the OP not to buy off Serial Toutes, i.e. ones that have a history of selling tickets on ebay. Just a wee bit of confusion.... ;)

  • Yeah i messed it up, sorry guys, i clicked a link on the e-bay page for similar tickets, thinking that hey were the seller's other items.

one of the e-bay sellers "ticket trader" has over 500 touted sales...

    disgusting
