I'm just wondering, how many people would be interest in a €200 reg €20 with 7k starting stack and 30 min blinds in a Dublin Casino on a Saturday or Sunday once a month, ie maybe every 1st Saturday of the month.

If number are good, we might try to get this going in the Fitz or SE.

Post your name and any other ideas here...

i think there is a large gap for a deep stacked tournie. (to have a deep stacked tournie, the reg must be decent to make it viable for the casino, hence larger buy-in) so i'd def be up for a 150-200 buy in tournie, with 10% reg. Also i think that there is no decent games on a saturday if anywere, so it should be then, perhaps at 2 o'clock, maybe even 10k starting and 45 min clock??
There are alot of us who are envious of those who got to play in Vegas, EPT etc, and this would be as close to this as possible, with a lower buy in, and also would be good practise for those who play these events often.
It could have running antes later on, and would really help u develop mental strenght for playin long days tournie.

i for one would really like to see something like this start up.

perhaps the two club reps Dom (fitz) and Ianmc (SE) could ask the relative clubs about it?

what about the deep stacked format suggested, with a cut off time, finishing then from 1o clock sun if need be(depending on numbers) (should mean finished by md day at the latest and time for online tournies that night, or early night for work monday or whatever is needed . . .)

sat afternoon at 4pm would be a great tournament.

freerolls throughout the month would be required in order to create sufficient numbers/value. this is one common pitfall the merrion/SE had when it came to their monthly games... and it is one of the reasons the Fitz 270 is so popular.

didnt the SE have a monthly game on a sat? is the lack of sats that led to its dowfall?

anyway i would be up for a game that started 4/5 on a sat. Gives enough time for us fish to get rid of our stacks and hit town!

Yeah I think this is a great idea. The pokerevents structures are really good, so maybe just copy them. Starting at 4pm with a dinner break it shouldn't go on too late, and if it does it doesn't matter too much considering it's Sunday the next day. I reckon if it's on in the Fitz it will get more runners than anywhere else.

My thoughts exactly, well put Donal.

We are crying out for such a tournament in Dublin. Shallow stacked fast clock tournaments are destroying my soul!!:(

Although, I've yet to play the Jackpot tues DC game, I heard it's probably the best weekly tournament in the city.

    Excellent idea Ollie:)

    *BUMP*

(edit-planned on that image coming up on the page, didnt quite work!!)

Anything being done about this? anyone think of asking bout it in the casino's r anything?

would like to see it take off soon, if free rolls to it etc were to begin, would have to be in the pipeline by now . . .

Next time I am in the Fitz I might ask Luke what happened to the 500 tournie they were planning on having every 6 weeks on a Saturday afternoon. They only had 2 of them I believe. A scaled down entry version of this might well work, 200+20 say as was sugested above. That is if I think about it. Otherwise, surely Nic, Mick, Richie, Dave or any of the other dealers that work there might mention it too? Or just any other punter that feels like it. The more people that mention it the more likely that it is to happen. Maybe the second Saturday of the month would be a good time to have it.

As for the guy who said 7k stack was too much - I hope you were joking, but sadly I don't think so.

Yeh, it would be great if someone could run this by Luke first and see if he's up for it.

I think the Saturday would be ideal as there's football on Sunday with a 3-4pm start and 7k starting stack with 30 min blinds with all levels included. Would allow loads of play and be good value with 50 runners and plenty of side action after.

If anyone mentions it to Luke and gets feedback please post it here.

    thanks

i agree completely, a longer deep stack tourneys especially once a month would be great and nice to look forward to. i like 10K 45 min clock aswell, but 7K 30 wouldnt be so bad! im in anyway

yeha a 2 day event would be good too, an i def think the fitz is the most popular place to play it.

I think there is a reluctance to schedule deep stacked tournaments for some reason that start at 3pm for example. I definitely can't see a regular 45 min clock 10k, 2 day event being organised by Fitz/SE. Possible reasons for this might be:

    1. Staff problems.
    2. Busy around town, so may be parking problems which will put people off.
    3. Regulars might not be saturday afternoon type players.

Exceptions are made for festival events and so on, but generally these are not the type of event that casinos like to run. Ultimately I think they prefer to have people play a tournie, get knocked out after 2 hours in a lot of cases and then play balckjack or cash games.
