    Well I sold my old lenses (18-50 2.8 and 70-300) and I want got one of the above for my 350D. I still have the kit lens and will be getting a prime/short zoom some time soon but I would be looking to leave either of the above lenses on 90% of the time.

    I know about the 1.6X factory but to be honest I don't shoot landscape and very rarely shoot at the wide end anyway.

    Does anyone have the above (the 28-135 more so) on a 300/350D and what do they think of it.

    (with a 28mm and 1.6X factor whats the closest you could be to someone to shoot them head to toe while holding the camera landscape?)

    is it the 28-135 is usm one?
    its a good lense, many ppl consider it an everyday lense. The ony problem I see with it is its weight...

    as for full body prolly 4 - 5 meters or something... 76 degree pov angle, you can count it...

    as for your question...

    28mm gives you 78 degrees pov on full frame (leave it aside for a moment)
    considering human height 2m we can write the folowing

    Sin( 38 ) = 0.62 ... 1m
    c = 1 / 0.62 = 1.61
    Cos( 38 ) = 0.79

    0.79 * 1.61 = 1.23
    taken 1.6 crop factor into account
    1.23 * 1.6 = 1.968
    2 meters give or take will be the minimal distance if I remember school trigonometry correctly...

    cheers for the maths guys. gives me a better idea.

    just before I spend my cash is there anything else worth considering for under 800€ before I go spending it all tomorrow. Is the IS feature of these 2 lenses worth the cash?
