Does anyone have any new years resolutions to share with the board?

Personally, i never cared much for these 'traditions', however, in the new year i do have a couple of resolutions that i want to stick to and i'm excited about what the new year holds for me.

    My resolutions so far...

    1. To get into peak physical condition, something which is very important to me
    2. To move outta the home, i haven't been in a position to do it financially for a long time until recently, i'm completely independent as i pay my own bills, rent, cook for myself etc, but i really need to get my own place, so this will be done in January and i look forward to it muchly:)
    3. Go back to college which i can't wait for!

All this plus i'm starting the new year with a trip to somewhere i've always wanted to go. So hopefully '07 will be a good year.

    Anyone else care to share?

    1. Go to the gym more. I managed to go fairly often this semester but I want to step it up a gear next semester.
    2. Get a first in my exams. I'm not sure how possible this is but there's no point in aiming lower imo.
    3. Write another play, a full length this time.
    4. Figure out what I want to do after the B.A. is done...

    Sharing is caring...

    1. I'm hoping to do some form of charity/volunteer work.
    2. I've just finished a dip by night, so I hope to start another course.
    3. Going to train myself out of talking out loud. Its annoying me!
    4. Continue on pretty much the same otherwise. :)

Go to all my lectures. Or most of them.

Never understood this game. I make resolutions on a day to day basis and then immedially work to achieve them. The very notion that this process is condenced into someone elses predetermined schedule means it's already being taken out of your control before you even begin.

I had a list done up last year but unforseen things were thrown at me that defered me from doing so. Normally there is 3 important points that I try to get through. The others I forget about.
    • Try to travel abroad more
    • Get rid of my debt
    • Pass that friggen driving test!

Oh that's another one of mine actually. -Travel more.
& also to pass my driving test - I've failed 2 times now already.. I've applied though - and this time, I know how to reverse! :D
(not that it matters anyway, i've been driving my car for 3 years now without being questioned about my licence)

    2) Get 600 in my leaving
    3) Make an album
    4) Go interrailing

I've nothing that will come into effect bang on midnight on December 31st, but some things I'm going to put my effort into in the new year are:

-Rejoin a gym and get fit once again.
    -Quit smoking fully
    -Travel, at least two holidays
    -Buy my first car
-Complete my Certificate in Business Administration and move on to a degree in a different college

Have probably a few more that could be added to the list, though some are very much dependant on other factors so can't really put them down as a resolution.

A bit early for thinking about the new year for me but I shall make up a list which should be easy to keep to and then totally go off track mid-January.

    not really, negative nelly.
my decision to try to quit smoking in the new year is not predetermined by anyone, nor is it influenced by anyone. i just find it a good time to quit.

    Shhhut up.
We don't get paid and I certainly didn't get a rise after becoming mod of another forum, and AH mods definitely don't get paid more than the other mods and sjones didn't come back as an AH mod because he missed the extra cash and we certainly don't get a bonus every time we ban someone. honestly.

I became an AH mod again because I missed all the hotties sending me horny PMs.

I have plans (resolutions if you will) for the New Year but i find if I keep them to myself that way I don't look like a complete idiot come February when i haven't done anything about them.

FFS. stop giving all the secrets away. i tried to dispel all the myths and there you go giving more of the AH mod perks away to the other
    members.
with great power comes great responsibility. this credo doesn't apply to AH mods. with great power comes the ability to abuse other members and call them silly names and stuff. eg: sjones is a pig lover.

2007 will be the year that I buy an apartment. (Or at least, it will be the year that I saddle myself with a 30 year mortgage for an apartment)

Apart from that, I would like to get into shape, but I said that last year and I still haven't managed it :p

    One resolution comes to mind…

To punch in the head anyone who pisses me off or takes advantage of my kind nature. I am sick of people taking advantage… I am winding up the arm right now so I will be ready on Jan 1st.

Can’t you tell I am in the Joys of Christmas?

Mine is simple: do one thing which will drastically change my life, for example, move to a different country, or make a total career change.

    What about you?

I was going to do the Baz Luhrmann/ "do one thing every day that scares you" thing, but I figure that I'd probably just end up sticking a fork into an electric socket every morning at breakfast and then doing nothing productive for the rest of the day.

I think it's a better idea just to try to be a good person pretty much all the time, the idea of a "new year" itself is such a demoralising thing, one always expects there will be another year to follow it ipso facto, whereby one can make up for broken resolutions once more, so you end up never really sticking to anything.

    Hey folks,

A new year again....last year went so fast. January is usually a pit of despair for me. So I again I'm looking into new resolutions. Normally I don't get far with them but hey at least something gets done rather than nothing.

This year I'm aiming at these 12 points:

    1. Keep up the daily walk/jog after work.
    2. Keep up an interest in a game and complete it.
    3. Keep reading a new book (The Dark Tower series - never read it and meant to).
    4. Try to learn, re-learn and practise IT skills. It gets tiring year after year.
    5. Focus a little harder on the day job. Avoid thinking the -ve inflexibility.
    6. Reduce the rubbish intake at weekend where possible. Counteracts the weekdays. It would be nice to have teeth for old age. :D
    7. Avoid big money spends where possible.
    8. Continue to save/invest for the future.
    9. Pay off a little extra more of the mortgage this year.
    10. Listen a bit closer to other people and their interests.
    11. Getting to bed on time (12am).
    12. Try to learn something new every day. No matter how small. Anything! A word even.

Might even organize a schedule for this year. Generally I find very little time in the evenings and unexpected events can get in the way.

The 1st 5 are specific points and remaining 5 are general.

Oh well that's the theory... in practise it could be very different. I'm curious to know what other people want to improve on in the new year? :)

    Go back to the gym
    Pass my exams
    Get a Promotion (more money)
Not fight with the boyfriend so much
    Pay off my debts
Go to a part of the world I have never been

That's about it.. I'm not one for resolutions.. this is more my plan for the next few months!
