Right firstly and foremostly this is somewhat a bit of a rant but take it as you want...

Its 8.47 and i have been in work for the guts of lets say half an hour, and I am already bored. As you may have figured im not particularly liking my job as it is incrediable boring. I shouldnt even be on the internet but it is keeping me somewhat sain at the moment.

Before you jump yes i am job hunting, as these people just dont listen when i say gimme some work as im bored, but anywho thats another story altogether.

My question is, what the hell am i gonna do to keep myself entertained but appear to be looking as if im working for the day ? note that it appears i can only go onto one site as others are all blocked, so imagination will have to be used big time.

It was all I needed for a while.. but I'm really fickle and exactly 87 seconds after I'd started it I was distracted by a shiney yoke outside. :(

Heyes, I dunno if I'm in the same position but I've loads to do, and I've absolutely no interest in doing it. I'm in a one person office, and therefore have no one looking over my shoulder, telling me that I've to do all the work.. and so I'm trying not to work at all. But I'm so frickin bored that I might as well do the work. Bah

    New job please!

I'd go with Karls idea and write a book. My last job was really boring and that's what I did, I used to almost look forward to coming into work so I could get it finished. Also, cut n paste film scripts into your outlook so it looks like you're reading an important email, hours of entertainment...

Nope not same position,as I litterally have absolutaly nothing to do. ive been in my new job about four months, and have asked and asked to give me more work but they do not listen. I never thought id ever have to complain about not having enough work, but think this has reached a new level.

my god i really am in ranting mode today, sorry bout that :p haha

Yep start on writing a book/screenplay

Start a course and use work time to study/write assignments

Although to be honest I'd be inclined to just walk out if I found my work that dull.

Ebooks are a good idea. Or if you have headphones you could get/download some linguaphone cds and learn a new language.

Trilla, basically an open planned office, with managers all around me, so headphone option wouldnt really work.I have a mini radio with headphones in my bag, i would be grand if i could sit there and listen to that all day but no joy

Is there anyone else as bored as you are? Try to make comtact and then start humming at the same pitch, taking breaks in turn so that the humming is kept at a constant tone. Used to do that in class.

If you sit near a watercooler, periodically take out five plastic cups, stab holes in the bottom with a pen and then put them back in the top. Bit of patience needed, yes, but worth it in the end...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

thats a perty good idea rite there

heyes i am in same position as you except i can go wherever i like on the intronet :)

if i was not able to browse all day i would lose my mind and probably go insane,
although i could be going that way tbh.

would you get away with reading a book in work. maybe you could become a connoisseur of the foods that are in your canteen or your local shop and eat all day :D

haha although id love to do that, i dont think my bootie could afford to get any bigger heehee...

nope wouldnt be able to read a book as my boss sits directly in front of me and a manager sits behind me. Im kinda going with the lets write a book idea, but my eyes are so heavy from falling asleep due to the obsene bordom that occurs in this place.

What you should do is start an AH thread on what to do and check it periodically with the suggestions people have. Bet you never thought of that.

Alternatively, go to random fora that you have never read before, or just read all the PI or S&S threads you haven't read yet. They are usually good for a laugh.
