:( My marauder won't start - the lights are coming on so I don't think its the battery, the safety switch isn't on( ) but when I go to start it there's nothing - it doesn't even turn over. I pull the clutch in when I start and it seemed way freeer than normal but i don't know what to do next...? I tried to push start it but nothing. It was fine this morning! I'm trapped in stupid east point and I want to go home! :(:(:(:(:(

EDIT another q - my poor helmet fell off the sissy bar and the inside of the chin guard came loose, I jammed it back in now but I'm worried it might be dodge to use it - what do you guys think?

If it won't start or turn over being pushed then try either the fuses or your relays.
pull the relays and check if the ends are corroded, maybe bad contacts

thanks horatio - i'll give that a try. I managed to get hold of my dad - he's coming over to take a look - the bike will prob end up on its side in the back of his station wagon!

I have a Virago that has a sidestand switch that prevents the bike from starting with the sidestand down - it's common for this switch to go on the Viraogs so that the bike won't start at all for no apparent reason.
Don't know if there is something similiar on the Marauder...

Check a screw didn't come out of the chain guard - one screw would hold it but you're running risk of guard getting caught up in chain. Fix asap

If you get nothing at all when you try to start engine, check main fuse (usually in holder on top of solenoid - trace battery cable to locate it.)

Is there a little nipple switch under your side stand - maybe it is gunked up? Pull it out to reset it.

I got it going in the end. I figured it was the safety switch at the clutch - i knew it didn't feel right so we pulled out the plug and shorted it to get the bike started.. I'm worried abt he helmet now - if it got a knock should I replace it or is it ok!?!

What type of helmet is it? If its a fibre glass type, then I wouldnt worry.
If its a carbon composite/fibre one, if it was me, if there was any marks which went through the paint, then I would think about replacing it.
But only YOU can decide... what make YOU feel safer :D

Happened to me before on a Suzuki.. A good squirt of WD40 fixed it right up..

what type of helmut is it? Generally if your helmut takes a knock you should replace it, there could be fractures inside that you cant see thus weakening it.
