    Hey,

Iv read a few of the older threads with people discussing different sites for tents and what not to go for etc. Though, I just wanted to ask what ya thought still.

There are 7 of us going to a weekend festival in July (or June, cant remember!). We would require at least 3 roomed (2 couples in their own rooms, rest in other rooms) tent. I assume a living area would also be a good idea to? Iv never been to an outdoor festival before so iv no idea what to expect, or what to get.

Id like a good strong tent with room for at least 7 with three rooms. Iv looked on Millets and found a few, aswel as a site called http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk. Obviously im not looking to spend an awful lot (we are splitting the cost) but im not looking to get something cheap and cheerfull either. There are some good tents at excellent prices on eBay - but can they be trusted?

Hoping you can advise. Cheers. :)

Buying a big tent for a festival is in my opinion a bad idea in case it gets trashed. I would buy two small tents, the throw up ones, and a reasonabbly big you you can hide in if necessary. That way if one tent does get jumped on, puked in, burned down you are not stuck with no tent.
Bring Baby wipes,a headtorch and bananas to keep your insides together. Spirits rather then beer as the toilets tend to be a hassle. Go off into the mountains a weekend before to learn how to put up your tents and to do some real camping with your mates as it is fun. At concerts the amount of people, booze, hassle etc makes it a totally different experience.

One of the links you mentioned (Gooutdoors.co.uk) currently has a sale on a range of different tents. You may have seen this already (I just received their latest newsletter).

Problem there is, the group would rather not be seperated and would prefer to be in the one tent.

Good idea though. Ill make sure to get a cheap one as backup.

If you travel as a group and stay as a group you can circle the wagons at the festival, or tents in this case. I'd rather be in my own tent even if it's 6 inches away from the next as it does give you a bit of privacy.

Well the idea of a big tent with individual rooms was to give that privacy. So you guys recommend not having a one for all, but having one tent for every second person / one person? I can see some people not wanting to sleep alone, or want to be in a group! :/

I have to agree though, its not a pleasant thought that there is a risk of tent slashing / fire. Iv heard it happening before, but its disapointing all the same. Perhaps if you stuck with the right crowd? *shrrugs*

There's no need for that now. Some events last year had vandals wandering the camp sites damaging tents (And if anybody names those events they will be banned from the forum). Doesn't give you the right to judge people who were trying to help you.

If by right crowd you mean right event you may have a point. If you mean group of people, your 10 friends are diluted in tens of thousands of people so the quality of your friends is of little importance. The thousands of people who surround you have much more effect on the quality of the environment you and your tents will be in.

Eh I wasnt judging anyone. I assumed that if i kept with the "right crowd" (as in people I know and trust) then the problem might not be as serious. Im not saying anyone here is wrong, or are vandals themselves. Im asking them to give me assistance and I respect the advise they gave me. It was a simple question.

I think the best advice you can give anyone going to a festival (epecially the one that dare not speak its name) is dont bring anything you would miss were is stolen, bunt, trashed. So dont buy an expensive tent cus theres a very good chance it wont be coming home with you

I would disagree. Most festivals are fairly safe, I wouldn't bring a €600 expedition tent, but don't get too paranoid.

Anyway, enoughs enough. This thread is getting a little to close to a topic that the admins don't want discussed. Sadly, I'm closing the thread.
