Well I used to use them but had a few problems - 1 DVD arrived snapped in half, 1 went crazy in the DVD player and couldn't be ejected until I switched it off, others skipped a lot. I'd say 25% of the discs I received had one problem or another. Also you added to a wishlist so they'd send whatever was available on that list, so you mightn't get the one you really wanted for ages. So renting a TV series was a no-no as they'd send episode 5 before episode 3 etc. On the plus side it is good value for money and you can top up your account whenever, and hold onto the DVD for a while (but they won't send the next until they receive the last), but overall I wouldn't recommend on the balance of things

I had no real problems with it. Once, a disk was unreadable, but other than that it was fine. I ended up stopping using them after a while because I simply didn't have the time watch all the films I was getting. But I thought they were good.

I used them for a while. Think they were ok. Some discs had problems. They have a feedback section on the envelope, but they completely ignore any feedback sent in this way

    So far so bad!!!

Signed up for the free trial account last Tuesday. I have just received one DVD a week later. Support email took 2 days for a response. Even though I received 2 despatch notices for 2 DVD's apparently the second one was never sent. I was informed that it will now be sent tomorrow.

If I was paying for this I would really be not happy. The chance of me continuing on to their paid service has gone from slim to none.

Don't know if moviestar.ie are any better.

I used them for about 8 months or so last year and found them pretty good especially as they had such a wide choice of movies which would be difficult to rent locally.
Very occasionally received a bad disk and just emailed them and they sent a replacement straight away - no fuss. The user support was helpful and prompt.

I thought it was good value. I'd previously have rented dvds and find I didn't have time to watch it or else I'd forget to return it and get charged twice for it  . Screenclick is great for avoiding these problems  .

The only downside, as far as I could see, was that you couldn't pick which DVD would next arrive. It could be any of the 25 in your wishlist. Although new releases tended to come soon after you added them to the wishlist - presumably they get a large volume of those in when they're first released.

I've used them since last July and have never had any problems or bad discs. Cant really decide if its worth it or not as its handy to get them delivered but my turn around time can be anything from a day to a month.

Used it during the O2 offer a few months ago. Got a bit fed up when I never got any of the stuff near the top of the wish list.
New releases always came quicker though, which seemed odd (again, volume probably the issue).
They also sent me this really strange DVD called the Ordeal - featuring beasiality! - one time, for no apparant reason. I stopped soon after.

I signed up for the free trial with moviestar and I must say they were excellent. Great selection, Dvd's came lightning quick and never a problem. I was sceptical about the whole mail order rental thing and would not have done it if it was not a free trial but it worked a treat and was very convenient.

I then seen a thread on here about how moviestar is dodgy and not safe and so sh1tting it I cancelled my subscription. Subscription was cancelled no problems and no spam or nothing. I cant really afford it at the moment but if I could I would be seriously tempted to try them out again.

I was with them for a while but gave up because of all the bad discs I received. It was so annoying to be in the middle of a movie when suddenly it would just stop and jump back to the start. All the new releases are impossible to get anyway. A complete waste of time imo.

I was with them for a while through free trials and several months membership.

If you forget to return DVDs and build up enough overdue charges to actually buy the film, these guys are good to go with. They also have a decent selection of alternative and some television shows.

However, waiting for a DVD to arrive by post can be annoying. You also have to pay extra to have more than one DVD at a time. And, as others noted, you might not get one you really want to watch for a few weeks.

It's a good service for people who are not arsed going down to their local Xtravision, feel they are paying too much in rental fees or just want something that isn't a bill to arrive in the post.

Finally, moviestar.ie allows you to rent games under the same principle. Now that is clever idea and definately better value than the videoshop.

I've been with Screenclick since early February and it's working out pretty well for me. I've saved lots of money on buying DVDs and though the delivery can be a day or so slow sometimes (though I think this is often my postman's fault) it's still good value.

The only issue I've really had is with faulty discs. About 90% of the discs I've gotten have been scratched in some godforsaken way. Usually they still read fine on my laptop but two or three times I've had to finish the film on the TV DVD player which is more robust can can read through the scratches.

We moved to ScreenClick and were about 6 months a member.
I found them very slow, their turn around time of a DVD must have been at least two days, and we always received old DVDs, never the new ones that were on top of our list.

Not sure if it's just my paranoid nature, but when you decide to quit, make sure you send your last dvd(s) by registered post. Of the people I know that used it, when they quit, all of us had our last dvds get "lost in the post" and had to pay for them.

Of course, it could just be that they got lost, but then again, it could just be a nice little earner for Screenclick. But apart from that, I liked the service. :D
