Do others struggle for adequate time to take proper shots -- i have 2 kids , a full time job, play football -- i don't know where i get the time to take decent photographs -- had my 9 year old down Dundrum yesterday, he hates when i take the camera -- embarrasses him -- so i end up with rushed shots like this -- no time to compose properly

Full time job, no kids, 1 horse, working part time equestrian photographer at weekends. I know what you mean about getting the time but I see it as training to being more competent at what I do. I can be tough sometimes, maybe better to combine both kids and photography and go to parks and glendalough and botanic gardens stuff like that.

Surprised you didn't have a burly security guard escorting you off the premises, I've heard of others having hassle when shooting in there.

I've been quite guilty of paying more attention to the camera than the husband at weekends for a while now, but I think it's just because I'm really enjoying discovering new places in the city and out in the countryside too, and it's the camera that makes me get out there. I hardly shot anything over the winter as well, so the good weather has made a big difference.

I'm hoping that it's a novelty thing though and once I've been round the whole of dublin and environs, I'll be out less often!

One full time and one part time job & play football too, only watch about 3 or 4 hours of tv a week though.

my biggest problem is not so much time as limited access to a car. public transport usually does not serve out of the way places at dawn.

photography isn't really the problem, it's processing all the photos afterwards. most of what I photograph is heavily weather dependent (lookee, me at work, and perfect weather to be on the beach, whereas all weekend, generally standing around beach doing nada)...so I don't get a huge amount of choice time wise.

work full time...spend most of spare time doing camera related stuff. use the TV as a CD player usually to play music in the background.

really wish I had more time to get out. I have 3 kids, 2 of them twins of 18 months, and they are really the handful. Generally the only time I can get out is when they are in bed, so early mornings or at night, though early mornings are too hard! I know it will get easier as they get bigger and I'm looking forward to having full days out

Single parent of two kids, working from home, national facilitator for a charity, starting full time college in September. Does the clone tool in PS work on humans?

it was from talking to you that i picked up on the time thing -- and when the kids get older they still eat up time -- my 9 year old plays football too , -- good point thatborderfox makes, that at least i can bring him to different things like motorsport , and city events -- which i probably wouldn't be into if i didn't have the camera -- my 15 year old won't go out with me if i bring the camera though -- its "totally uncool"

I mostly get out and about with the camera at the weekend. Weather depending, I like to stay around the Dublin area, but it really depends.

Sometimes, week evenings it's fun to head in to the city centre. Plenty to do and see, especially when the sun is going down. Monuments, buildings, Temple Bar .. all full of photographic opertunities.

My day is filled by my full-time job, but I've no kids to worry about in the evenings. :)

One job, no family, no horse, free car, not too much money to save for didjital SLR and don't want to spend too much on films. However I shot 5 rolls yesterday.
I have time but I feel tired a lot. Maybe I should try to find some part time job to realise how lucky I am!
    Some suggestions?

Edited: I forgot that I am going to get bicycle, so there will be even less time for photography.

weekends mostly, definately. I work in city centre as well, so I can usually be seen strolling around during my lunch with my camera... gives me a good excuse for a walk, too...

Full time job, 22 month old baby going through serious tantrums, time is valuable. I pawn baby off on my family occasionally and get a couple of hours to take shots, but I have no chance of getting out at dawn or at night, and I'm dying to.. Ah well, he may hold me back when it comes to shooting landscapes, but he's my muse when it comes to portraits!

I have way too much free time on my hands right now. After I move I'll have a 12-month old toddler and a partner. Hopefully I can secure work as a photographer (it's Vegas). It helps that Caira can't get enough of everyone's cameras, hah.
