Just wondering which is the correct way to express this?

    Its Paul's birthday

    or

    It's Pauls birthday

    or lastly

    It's Paul's birthday

Nuts - thought I put this in After Hours :) - maybe Creative Writing would be apt.

It's (It is) Paul's (Paul owns the birthday) birthday. (Full Stop or use an exclamation mark if being said in surprise)

    S

"It's Paul's birthday" is correct, "It's" is a contraction of "it is" while "Its" is a possessive pronoun. Easy way to remember this is try substituting "his" for "its" and see if your sentence makes any sense.

Wow you must feel pretty strong about your grammar if this is a personal issue.

It's Paul's grammar is the correct usage.

The apostrophe denotes possession as in Paul's shoes, Paul's birthday etc.

It is also used to replaced dropped letters, in this case it is becomes it's.

There's a funny book on the whole thing called Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynn Truss.

    Ok I admit it

The real reason is that I get so sexually frustrated when I use incorrect grammar that is affecting my love life - my love of words.

Every time I try to talk dirty, I am constantly wondering "Am I using this in the strictest grammatical sense" - and by the time I am done thinking about that, and worrying about it - my hand has gone number, the air has left my inflatible love doll, and yore ma's bill is through the roof

Damn, that sounded funnier in my head

    Spot on!!

Next time say" May I have some good head please"

Instead of "Can I have some good head please"

    Always works;)

Or you could push her head down and whisper suggestively "It's Paul's Birthday"
