    worked with a lass in london whos surname was 'Haughney'; me being

    a) Irish and
    b) Polite

    would always make a point of enunciating the 'gh' in the middle of it to make it sound like the way we'd have pronounced 'Haughey', though obv with an 'n' sound in there also

    Of course my colleagues, and the girl herself didn't, and it always just ended up that she sounded 'Horny'

    How we laughed...

    There was a guy I used to work with called "Bent Kristensen". He had just moved over to Dublin from one of the Nordic countries. People would laugh whenever dealing with him. For a while he was thinking he was big man on campus, but he sang a different tune when he found out what his name means over here! ...from that day forward he wisely dropped the T at the end of his name!
