    Howya!

Just back from ProFit this morning. A really really eye opening service. Brilliant stuff altogether. I spent about an hour being fitted and finally settled on KZG Evolution irons.

They use computer analysis and within 10 minutes they had picked a shaft for me that was adding 25 yards to my 5 iron taking me from 175 yards to 200 yards plus. Best hit ball was 215. My initial spin rates were a bit too high, so they were fiddling with shafts, lofts and cast vs forged irons to see what effect it would have for me. Finally I picked the grip I preferred and that was that. I'll pick up the clubs in 10 days.

The only thing I didn't do was to bring my own clubs with me. They say they prefer to see you using your own clubs so that they can see what problems you are having and show you the difference with your new clubs.

All in all, brilliant service. Well worth a visit. Fitting will cost 50 euro or it's included in the price of the club making.

The KZG's themselves felt wonderful. Great feedback from the club and wonderfully solid contact too!

It's worth booking in advance for a fitting though to save you getting there only to have a chat and leave!!

Can they adjust the clubs you already have or do you have to buy a new set from them They're all generic clubs aren't they?

Good question. I would expect that many clubs would have very little if any adjustability. They would probably break before they would bend. Just a guess though. Best talk to them and see.

As for shafts, I would expect that they could replace a shaft without too much trouble. From what I learned today, the shaft seems to be the primary factor. Obviously everything else makes a difference, but I couldn't believe the difference that a shaft change made!

thats not true at all, most clubs can be easily adjusted. they aren't made with different lies etc in factory, they are bent to them. cast ones can't be adjusted as easily or as much as forged but all clubs can be adjusted. forged clubs have nearly unlimited bending ability. shafts of course are easily changed in all clubs.

    I sit corrected so copacetic,

Much of the literature I have read suggests that many cast clubs (thereby meaning the vast majority of clubs) are adjustable up to 1 or 2 degrees of lie or loft. Forged clubs can go up to 7 or 8 degrees in some cases.

1 or 2 degrees may not be enough depending on the person. All the same I'm sure that you are probably right in saying all clubs can be adjusted to some extent.

How much is the set of clubs costing you looney? Are you getting a full set, woods and all?

i'd agree with most of that, except that 2 degrees is enough adjustment for probably 99% of people in lie and loft. combined with shaft length adjustment of course if required.

Forged Evolutions (3-PW) are a smidge over 800 euro. The cast version, PC-III would be about 200 less. Graphite shafts if needed will add about 100 euro I believe.

A quick goo at the site and they seem to be really pushing the "custom built" route rather than the "custom fit", so would be surprised if they would be willing to adjust your current set. Hope I'm wrong on this though.

Not Really. At least I don't think so. A decent set of brand name irons will easily cost you that kind of money and more. You are paying for the fact that the clubs are not just fitted to your specs but actually built to them. From grip to shaft to loft to lie and method of manufacture.

The cast PC-III's at 600 odd euro seems like very good money compared to many of the offerings at McGuirks or anywhere else like that. Having said that, if you're in the states, get them there! They're about half the price!!

All in all, I saw the results immediately. You get what you pay for...

Spose I have to agree with copacetic. 2 degrees of adjustment is probably plenty for just about everyone. I was a little odd I believe in that I needed a 1 1/2 degrees upright lie. Just be sure your clubs can take it first though!!

pro fit will adjust your own clubs as well I have a set of mizuno mp33 which I have taken there a few times to get the lofts and lies checked and adjusted as forged clubs can get knocked out of shape especially on hard ground or the driving range.

Different manufacturers also have different lie angles so while one particular make may need adjusting another may not need changing at all. Mizuno clubs for example usually have a flatter lie than taylor made. The actual figures can be found on the manufacturers website.
