    Hi All,
As the title says, ive a couple of insurance related questions id be grateful if anyone could answer for me.

The background is this- Had comprehensive insurance with aon last year then read the exclusions section of policy book to realise that as i had no alarm i was Not covered for theft. My insurance is now due for renewal and ive had simular quotes from aon and Qd, but quinn have told me that i will be covered for theft even without an alarm, whereas i wont be with aon. So..

    1. Is there anyone here who has a quinn policy who could look up the "exclusions" or "endorsements" section in their handbook for me?

    2. Does anyone here know what alarms aon/quinn direct accept for insurance-
i mean does it have to be thatcham approved etc?

Sorry for not wording this post very well but hopefully you will get the gist of it!!

    Thanks

Why not look them up yourself?

They said my bmw alarm/immobilizer was fine, so I guess Thatcham isn't a requirement.

I've got a better one ...........changed to QD in April for my wife's bike, got a quote, paid by c.card on the day.

Today she got a call looking for an extra Eur98.00...........claiming the quote was some sort of 'mistake', and could they debit the card for the extra Eur 98.00??

Like no frickin' way............have provided them with date, time, quote and name of person who provided it and they are looking into it.

So, if you do call, get the biro our first and an in this order write down:
    Name of operator (in full)
    time & date of call
write down the price and get the quotation reference number

Do not rush, and do not proceed or hang up without all of the above........

You might be glad you did..............

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I have full comp and can ride any other bike provided it is NOT mine and the owner has given me permission and then I'm covered but only 3rd party.
    Sounds OK ?
I have to pick up my wife's bike from the shop because she's too buzy in work. No problem, my policy will cover me.
    Oh NO it won't
I'm told, that in law what belongs to my wife also belongs to me and therefore her bike is also mine so I would have to pay extra on my policy to ride it. :(

Well i rang Aon yesterday and was told that i am in fact covered for theft - the guy said that the "endorsement 5801" is for bikes in the higher insurance groups
which are valued a lot higher than mine. He said that the 5801 should not have been shown on my policy!!!
I am still getting an alarm fitted though- even though it doesnt affect my premium by having one fitted-It will give me peace of mind!

cb750- I bet your wife is not impressed to hear that as far as the insurance Co are concerned her bike belongs to you!!!! Not only can the law be an a$$
sometimes but slightly chauvanistic too HaHa
