    Fork, yes fork lightning just struck the mobile phone mast 200 meters from my office, im nearly fooking deafened!.

    since when did ireland get fork lightening?

    It's far from unknown here. We normally think of sheet lightning, but fork and ribbon lightning can be see here too. This might be best in the weather forum alright. Those guys will be able to tell you a lot more about this.
