    Hey guys,
I'm after getting a phone call from the brother who just dropped his six month old Mybook, nad it's b0rked now. I might be able to repair it, but if not, he's looking to get a shock proof one to prevent against this happening again. Any recommendations of a high capacity one?
    Cheers, WP.

No such animal really , there are features on some laptops with a gyro that will park the hard drive heads in case of a fall , but a hard drive is a hard drive , and they are all delicate enough. Most wont survive a Good hard knock.

Bubble wrap? :) Never heard of such a device, maybe keep the drive on floor or next to the wall plug?

The best you could probably get to avoid being stung having dropped it would be a really big flash drive or a solid-state drive. The current models are smaller than the mechanical devices and cost more but expect that to change as demand increases.

    EDIT: nice info on Wikipedia
