I know your supposed to exericse and eat a lot in order to gain muscle, I was just wondering the effects if you only worked out and didnt eat much.

Would you burn fat and muscle?
or gain strength but not size?

    or what?

    any help would be appreciated

I usually find I just can't exercise as much on an empty stomach so it's hard to compare like with like. They say you burn more fat when you exercise on an empty stomach.

Chances are if you went on a starvation diet and tried doing an exercise program, you'd simply burn out.

depends on how little you are eating. If you eat too little you won't have enough energy to train hard - not as hard as you would train if you were eating more. Not training as hard means less fat loss and less muscle gain! So it's all relative really! Also, if you work out very hard on an empty stomach, or on a very low calorie diet, your body can start to burn muscle instead of fat for fuel, especially at long duration - which you don't want.

Moral of the story - eat little and often, eat enough so that you never feel hungry - and train hard and often. Oh and cut all the junk. You'll lose that belly.
