    Its out friday wk,I think its a standalone game not too sure though,it looks good new units,new campaign,and a new faction,anyone else getting it?:)

    It's both. It expands on the supcom universe by adding a fourth race, more maps, units etc but you don't need SupCom to play it. It's like the Dawn of War series, you only need the original if you want to play with the original three factions in multiplayer.

    It's an excellent expansion..er...addition thingy. Some nice graphical tweaks mainly in lighting but some of the textures have been improved also. Can't say much about the AI as I'm just finishing up my first run through the campaign, it's supposed to be better than vanilla Supcom but then I've been using the Sorian AI mod on that since it first came out (and it is superb, hopefully he'll adapt it to FA). The campaign is great, excellent story and some nervewracking moments (if you don't just buff up to uber levels before completing your initial tasks then it's a wee bit too easy but at least you have the choice effectively of deciding how hard the next map segment will be. I really like the way they shift battlefields on the one map as they did in the original SupCom, stops you building a one-sided base (well and surviving too) with backs to an invisible wall. The soundtrack is also considerably better. As a big fan of Jeremy Soule I was disappointed with the Vanilla soundtrack, it tried to recapture some of the character of TA's but with his newer sound and it just didn't work imho. FA's is MUCH better, a lot more life and better use of melody (shoot me, it ain't epic if it hasn't got an epic soundtrack :) ).
    The new units are pretty good and the balance definitely feels much better. Constructor experimentals (e.g. Fatboy, Atlantis etc.) now build very quickly and can generate small armies in minutes. On one of the sea based campaign missions I pretty much finished the entire map with 10 Atlantis and 2 battle ships, the AA on the Atlantis has been buffed so it was easy enough to have them take out all water defenses and have them idle building Broadsword gunships while the battleships moved in to take the coastal structures down, whenever a large airforce moved in the Atlantis fleet would surface and take them down, then finally release the new and expendable fleet of broadswords to mop up. Experimentals on the whole are cheaper and faster.

    I'm a bit pissed this wasn't a standard expansion but it does as much for Supcom in it's own way as CC did for the original TA.

    Any error messages? Tried the Sup Com support forum to see if anyone else has the same problem?

    Yes i tried to reinstall but after the patching the game wont sart.. No error msg. Weird, there was a guy on GPGnet same issue but no solution there either. I'll try vista tmrrw you never knw...:rolleyes:

    i bought 2 copeis no problem on a sony vaio or my desktop (custom)
    Vista home premium seems to be very good at running games, i have had no probelms although im sure when i try to install freelancer in January it wont run then ill have to ring mictosoft because i expect a fukcing microsoft game to work on a microsoft OS

    Wow great game, only had 2 matches and im loving but there is soemthing i dont understand.

    What does min specs mean? also what does reccemended specs mean?

    For example you can pick different grafix quality and also change the unit size and the number of players so what do the min specs apply to?

    is it a 5km/5km map 1v1 with max units of 250 grafix on lowest?

    i dont think so because i tried 8 players with max grafix and 81/81k map i have 2x the reccemended but the game still wont run at norm speed, something about having close to 10,000 unitson the map but why give the option if the game cant handle it?

    Does anyone know legally speaking what reccemended specs mean? thanks

    Recommended specs refers to the specs of your machine being able to handle the game comfortably on medium-high in some cases, while minimum specs is the minimum level of specs needed to run the game at low settings.

    I think anyway !

    I installed vista and the FA works fine..:)

    The FA and SC consume unlimited power there is no machine which can run it properly.:D It's way ahead of it's time. Quad core 3.8Ghz, 8800 ultra SLiI recommended.

    Been playing this a fair bit recently, cracking game, some real improvements over the origional, and some of the units are just fricken sweet.

    Still not happy i dont understand why it would slow down on a 81k map with 8 players and 8000ish units. If i e-mail them and ask for a refund i wonder would they give me one

    Really i just want to hear an offical excuse from someone who works on the game why 1 second with 8000 units actually takes 7 or 8 real seconds before one pases in the game

    User, are you playing online? I found that playing against another person, even on a LAN, can slow things down a good bit.

    Note: Recommended specifications provide optimal experience for single player and up to 4 player/medium size map multiplayer

    ah i didnt notice that quote, thanks. i wa splayking skirmish but i do play lan with my mate sometimes on this game.

    Oh actually for those that have played it, you know the Serephim expermental bomber?
    i find this weapon to fast. One was on course for my base and i engaged with 135 tech 3 gunships and it took some damage but flew right by and they couldent chance it, i had 86 tech 3 anti air but they where no help because of its hull strgenth and speed. It bombed my base but my shield held then it was destroyed as it turned to make a 2nd pass.

    My point is how do you stop/intercept one of these? I feal ashamed asking that because i was ranked 2nd in eurpe at RA2, (not the best cnc game but it was the one i was best at) Anyway i want to know how any of you would stop 3 of those on course for your base?

    Best thing to stop the experimental bombers is mass Air Superiority Fighters, even then their hard as nails, you have to catch it long before its at your base, better yet blow it up before its built (not easily done usually), but yes they are very hard to deal with. If your cybrans Myrmadons make pretty short work of anything in the sky, but cybran shields are so pants its hard to do much with them.

    Just finished the campaign there, great fun but the last mission is way too easy, you get all 3 tech trees, and if you turtle the first bit, get Aoen resource up, then put down about 30 Nanlathes (building that builds things) and mass experimentals, was putting out a soul ripper every 15 seconds by the end of it, aswell as a fatboy every 20 seconds beside him at another nano-bay, and had 3 Mavors blasting things too, and I had 80 engineers assisting my Naval factories in total so my Nav ywas nothing short of considerable. I ended up stopping the land army near the end of the game because my pop was full of T2 and 3 navy and experimentals. The later parts of the mission were rather brief....

    Indeed, that's what I did. 4 mavors and 6 Novax centers later I was laying waste to the enemy base. As I was UEF the end part was really simple and fast, spam commander nukes, they build stupidly fast. I had 3 in the air before the first one had hit.
