"Another green measure is the stipulation that old-style incandescent bulbs will disappear at the end of next"

Do those long life energy efficient light bulbs use tungsten, or are they flourescent? Will Auto WB be able to handle them or are we going to have to manually adjust for them?

Anyone any ideas, or will it make no difference at all?

Tungsten bulbs are going, and its about time,
CFL, Halogen, Sodium, LED all remain, these cover all sorts of lighting methods, both flourscent and constant light similar to the old tungstens bulbs,

However I don't know what this means for photographs

Ah F### Have played around with them quite a bit and their so so bad.
they give off about 1/4 to 1/3 of the power of tungsten and have a WB of about 2800K.

    Fast lens high ISO time.

Forgot to add they will be using CFL's (Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs) although they are Fluorescent they do not share the same temperature they always seem to be lower.

Do they cycle the same as a regular fluorescent light? they are a pain I have to shoot JPEG out of the camera with these at indoor showjumping.

Yeah they cycle at the same rate, 100 times a second.
Expect other low energy bulbs to become more popular, ones that don't cycle.

Ah, that's pants :( How can they get rid of them altogether? Fair enough, put a tax on them so they're less likely to be used where it deosn't make a difference, but banning them seems a little too comminist for me... Personally I don't like CFL bulbs and don't use them in my bedrooms or living room. Fine in corridors etc. where they're more likely to be left on the whole time...
