Free Sky+ box or Sky HD for €150

Got a letter from Sky today saying that we could purchase a Sky HD box for €150 instead of a availing of the free Sky+ box. It's pretty vague on the pricing details but seems to indicate that if we choose the HD box, there is an extra monthly HD subscription (which I am aware of) AND a monthly Sky+ subscription if we want to avail of the Sky+ features of the box. Is that correct (2 extra subscription fees)?

I already have a standard Sky box and a HD TV. Was planning to upgrade at some stage but the €450 price tag for the HD box was a bit much.

There is no monthly Sky+ subscription. There used to be, but it has been done away with. You just need an active Sky subscription.

So, as you're upgrading to HD, you'll just be paying the extra monthly HD fee of €15 per month.

RAFC - It was the deal where if you were an existing Sky subscriber and you recommended a new Sky subscriber, you could register for a free Sky+ box.

I have the same offer here, is it worth going for the HD box at 149? I dont have a HD TV but was thinking of future proffing my setup until such times as i get a HD TV. Can i get the box without the subscription?

    X.

150 is a big saving on the normal price

My SKY number was registered when the person I recommended booked their installation in mid-November. Their installation happened in mid-December and I contacted SKY the day after. SKY told me that they would send out some extra info but that it could take up to 28 days for it to arrive.

I got the sky HD offer with my free sky + letter aswell and want to take it up.

Spent ages ringing around sky today to firstly try to get through to talk to someone and when eventually did gave me a number to ring, was on hold with that for 40 minutes and then the guy said they knew nothing of the sky HD box upgrade offer and said to ring the 0818719812 number again.
Thing is i have no idea what options to choose or how to get to talk to someone who will knwo about this.
    Skys phone service is terrible.

and €45 for an installed when all i need to do is take wires out and put them in the new box and ring sky to rematch the viewing card is a bit of a scam. Guy i talked to above said its just really a fee to get the guys to bring the box to you.
If anyone finds a way to get through to the correct section of sky to get this offer set up please let us know.

Thats not long - 2 or 3 weeks.

the offical line was it could take over two months to get your letter with the reference number so I am quite surprised the letters are out so early
