ATMs in Egypt

My wife is going to Egypt next month and I was wondering if there are many ATMs there and if an AIB card is suitable? Has anybody ever experienced any hassle getting money there. Thanks.

There are ATM finders located on both mastercard.com and visa.com. Check them out.

AIB cards should work in most machines - if it's a Laser/Maestro, look for machines with a Cirrus/Maestro/Mastercard logo on them, if it's a Banklink look for one with a Plus/Visa logo on it - most ATM's support both so that may not be even an issue.

If you're heading to large cities or the usual tourists destinations you should be ok. If you're going off the beaten track, it may be a bit more hit and miss.

I'm going to Sharm in March. I bought a guidebook and it says there's ATMs in the resort.
