What did u love about it?
What did u hate about it?

Me,im still on my first car,only driving bout 2 years.Its a 01 fiesta,well,i love it caus its small,nippy and cheap to insure.
What i hate about it?Its small and its a horrible wine colour !!

A 1968 Lancia Fulvia 1.3 Sport. I loved everything about it, still miss it.

For: Interior space, handling, performance of 903cc engine, comfort, fun.

Against: Oil consumption (engine was clapped), rust, timing chain noise.

1977 957 Fiesta...burnt the valves out in it...rusty...very rusty....:D

Still miss my Mk111 XR3i, built out of a RS shell...loved that car

A 1986 golf 1.6 diesel.. zs 3574! Bought off a lady in dunsaughlin (sp) for £300 and a box of roses! (never seen a drop o white in its life!)
Lasted well until i ran out of road 18 months later as my father predicted!
Loved... my independance
Hated... list too long, twas a heap, drivers seat leaned back to left and everything electric was dodge. Battery held in with cable ties where the chassis had rotted away!!

a 2000 3dr 1.4ltr volkswagen golf when i was 17......

loved: everything about it, it was fast and looked fab

hated: nothing that i can think of!!

have a 1.4 ltr toyota corolla 2003 at the min but selling it for something bigger and diesel

1994 Diahatsu Charade 1ltr turbo diesel

For; very economical, no rust, bodywork was like new. never gave a days bother in the 1.5 years i had it. passed both nct's without doing anything to it.

Against; slow and slower

Loved that car so much, i will buy another one some day just for the memory.

It was an '86 Seat Ibiza (SI) reg plate...makes me feel old now

She was black, loved the fact that she had electric windows and a cute go faster stripe....and she gave me my wings of freedom. 500 quid and 2k to insure if i remember correctly.

Hated the fact that while pulling into the estate i was living in in Lexlip the brakes decided to have a day off, but no damage done thank God.

Man i loved that car, all the way to the scrappage deal

and my shiny new Fiat Punto.

2000 Fiesta Zetec 1.25 3 door.

For:
Fun to drive, pretty economical, quick for what it is.

Against:
Skanky white dials on the dash, basic as feck (I think the only electric things in it were the radio and the lights

), dodgy locks that had a habit of not unlocking whenever they felt like it, and it ate an exhaust.

My first car was a white 998cc rover Mini in the late eighties. It had terrible electrics, but still it was my first car. I always remember the time it stalled on me one summer on the Temple hill in Blackrock in evening rushhour, and took more than a little while to get started again. :rolleyes:

Another time my sister had a house party and 'cos the mini only had a petrol cap with no lock or key, one of her "guests" pissed in the fuel tank! I sold the car for scrap 6 months later.

3 years ago we bought another rover mini and had it for a year, a great classic car I must say and a lot of fun to drive...

First car was a 1998 Hyundai Accent 1.3l.

For: Plenty of pep for a small car, O.K. coupe styling, easy to work on - did a lot of work to it myself. Incredibly reliable, I put up 20k on this car and no trouble whatsoever.

Against: Too small for me, I'm 6' 3" and found even with seat fully back it was too small.

This was two years ago, around when I turned 17. Had the car for about a year and a half, and I'm now driving a 00' Passat 1.6 - even though small engined you can feel the extra power. More comfort, legroom... Fantastic car. Could be yours for 5.2k, I want a bimmer now.

It's listed in my sig, my '90 Micra, and I still have it too.

For: Cheap too run, easy to fix and service, lack of power everything makes for a more rewarding drive IMO, surprisingly good torque from the engine, & I like the boxy 80's design of it (I'm probably the only one who does!

),

Against: Dodgy handling, paint work in poor condition, temperamental carburettor, burns oil, lack of rear seatbelts, & it tends to rattle at motorway speed.

That said, I intend on keeping it well into the future.

1991 Peugeot 205 GTi, white, imported by myself.

LOVED: The speed, the handling, the fact that it bit back when you pushed it too far. I faced the wrong way on a roundabout once or twice!! The looks it got and people constantly asking me was it for sale

That was a big boost to the ego!

LOATHED: Reliability issues. I had to do something to it every weekend. Was great for 9 months but then I got tired of constantly maintaining it.

Still have it and have to do some work to the engine before I sell it on... Will be sad to see it go

1995 Toyota Corrolla 1.3 Xli Hatchback

For: very reliable

Against 1. My mates reckoned it was a farmers car. And i got dogs abuse about it.
2. It was red. I hate red and i never polished it so it turned pink. Got abuse over that too.

Ford Ka

For: Never a problem with it, nippy enough, easy to park and good for city traffic

Bad: Oldish engine could have done with an upgrade, lack of power on an open road, crap basic radio, lack of key fob, the slagging I got for driving it (I'm not the smallest)

1991 Nissan Sunny 1.4 litre

For: Great little engine, power steering, good fuel economy and comfortable.

Against: Driver's door lock was dodgy, heater blew cold air all the time, black bumpers faded to grey.

1990Nissan bluebird 1.8 SLX fully loaded, still going, see it around a good bit. I still think its one of the best looking cars ever. Every nissan was crap after this.

1987 1.0L Ford Fiesta

It only had 4 gears, and a manual choke which was great fun the first few times I drove her as the car I learned in didn't have one. The tape deck chewed up tapes on a regular basis.The handbrake was crap so I couldn't really park on steep hills.... ah the days before NCT.

But I was everywhere from Donegal to Cork in that car, it was really reliable.. just so old and starting to fall apart

Six weeks after I traded in I got a called from the gardai asking me if I was the owner of car, told them about the trade in, was gutted when they told me my first car had been found burnt out, dealer had obviously sold it on and not changed over my details or something. a sad end to my first car.

95 Honda Prelude 2.2 L (non-vtec)

Red, blacked out windows, electric everything & all the trimmings, nice rims etc... sweet.......

good: fun to drive, rock solid japanese engineering, good looks, lots of poke, plenty of front passenger room

bad: looks like the ride of a mid/entry level drug dealer, cops like to pull it over, glove compartment is too small to hold anything over a fairly short paperback :-)

1995 Corsa 1.2

For: Good runabout for learning in, Easy Drive. No too slow but not to quick either!

Against: Rubbish Gearbox (Drove mates same ****e), Hard to start if its left unstarted for 2 weeks. Cheapy Interior. No Power Steering (Didn't bother me though). Not build to house 5 people!:D

Had this for a year before i got a company van and i was glad to see the back of it. I'd never but another Opel tbh.

Hate: So small it wobbles on windy days (and it's always windy up North!), weird noise it makes when I hit 100kph and lack of electric windows...swipe card parking means a full up and down around 8 times a day.:rolleyes:

It was mine. after 5 years of being broke in college and bumming lifts I was mobile.
It had a sunroof
I picked up a nice (well I thought they were anyway) set of alloys for it.

Against :
Pretty much everything else, but mainly, it was slow slow slow

Still on my first as im only driving 15 months. Have a black VW Golf MarkIV 1.4 (2000). Nice car for a first imo, and I can't say I hate anything about it. The few things I dislike being the rear tinted window (a bitch at night time and makes it look a little bit boy racery at times) and the fact it has only 75hp. I do a nice bit of mileage per month around the country and would like a bit more poke! Apart from that I like it a lot.

1979 Hillman Hunter, a beautiful mustard yellow colour!

Bought for $250 NZ (about £80) and it got me all around New Zealand for months until the engine blew after a couple of hundred k's of filthy black smoke billowing out the back ot it..
Parked it up on the side of the road, took all my gear out of it and started hitching. This bloke picked me up and was saying that he was a mechanic so I gave him the keys and said he was welcome to it, hopefully it's still running somewhere in NZ!!
In return he told me to reach under the passenger seat and I pulled out a bag of sticky green with a pipe made out of garden hose, and had a nice few smokes while he drove me to the next town, one good turn and all that....

I had a Toyota Linea Luna Liftback. 97 Reg, only got rid of it last year.

Even after 10 years it only had 85,000 on the clock.

A 1993 Fiesta 1L
It had a c*** of an immobilizer that if you touched the accelerator when trying to start it, it had to be pulled about a mile to start it(It always flooded while trying to turn off the immobilizer)

93 Nissan Micra 1.2, it was the old box style car in silver. Got it for free off my uncle whos a mechanic.

It seemed nippy enough (up to 60) and served me well for the 6 months I had it in 2006. Nearly got blown off the road on the n11 a few times with wind though!

When I was up in dublin working some lads tried to hotwire it, they nearly had it but caught them before they got the engine up and running. Got it fixed up again with a spare ignition.

Polish lad has it now, still going strong!

96 3dr Civic. Liked the looks, the reliability of it, ease of servicing, the fact that it was among the better handling and performing 1.4 hatch's I could get, and I liked the dials!
Dislikes : Not a lot. Maybe a bit of sound insulation wouldn't have gone astray, but that didn't bother me too much. Also wished it was more powerful at the time than 89bhp. A 2.2 vti Prelude is what I aspired to as the next wagon!

A 1994 1.2l Renualt Clio in 2002 Be-Bop model with 103k miles. I had it three months when I crashed it and worte it off, bought another 1994 Clio that year, lasted a year when it died at 74k miles, bought my Astra which I still have today.

Like: It was Black and was my first car.
Disl: Nothing only the 4k insurance bill for the first year.

My first baby was an all black '94 1275cc Rover Mini Cooper...

Loved: the image, the handling, the head-turning, the fun, the nostalgia it drummed up in nearly everyone it passed, the cheeky ducking into or out of traffic & other manouvres people let me away with while they coo'd over it's cuteness & the mechanical, electrical & general motor maintenance learning curve to keep it on the road.

Hated: eventually...the mechanical, electrical & general motor maintenance learning curve to keep it on the road.

Fond memories though of 94 D 16847, met her in Galway last year so went to a good home (& at a profit!)

I loved this car saved up for it since I got my first job at 16. Was taken in by the wheels :rolleyes: expensive mistake :mad: bought the car with a cracked alloy and broken electric windows and a bone shaking exhaust. My Da did the took the test drive as I was a week away from 17. Still loved it was cool car. Only buy sensible cars for your first one.

87 VW Polo Fox "Ranger" (the one that had a kind of 2 door estate body)

originally a UK car, and i bought it from the guy who had it from new. He worked in the same company, and was relocating back to the UK.

What i liked - it had a great 1.3 engine, rock solid and pokey enough. As a UK car, and as a special edition, it had some nice extras - bolstered front seats, sunroof, electric windows, very well looked after.

What was not so good - the fact that it looked like a nurses car :rolleyes:,
so not much in the way of street cred there. That was about it really.

Sold it to my mate (for his wife) after 18months.

Was my first car(Was dying to get on the road!)

Horribly slow....it was an embarrassment
Insurance....2500 as a 3rd name driver!
Probably spent more time being fixed then drivin!

i can't remember the make or model of the car (i got it free in a box of kellogs cornflakes:)) what did i hate about it ? i had to share it with my brothers and sister :eek: what did i like about it? it cost nothing to run

no petrol

no penalty points

no insurance :rolleyes: no road tax and best of all no rip off NCT :mad: (how many times have you & your friends lights failed the nct
