Installing a metal hop-up *problem*

    I bought a pro-win metal hop-up for my JG G36C.

    http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/images/pw_pt_g36c_m.jpg

I swapped over all the bits from my original hop-up and I'm sure I put everything together correctly. It looks simple enough when you have it apart. When I put the hop-up\barrel back into the G36 it seemed to fit alot tighter. I don't know if this should be the case or not. It's very hard to get it to move on it's spring. Does the mag well need any modification to take a metal hop-up? When I tried firing the gun the BB's come out like....well, a stream of piss actually. They don't go more than 10 feet and come out in an arch. So, have I damaged something in re-assembly or is there another problem? I've gone and bought a new hop-up rubber and I have a metal air nossle just in case they're the problem. I'm assuming the gearbox has to come apart to fit the air nossle so I'm reluctant to do that until I get the hop-up working. So, any ideas?

    Jay

when you put the hop up back together did you look down the barrell to check it was working properly? as in when the dial was turned did the rubber look like it was coming in and out of the barrell as you adjusted it? that's worth a shot and if it's not doing what it should try taking it apart and putting it back together while paying close attention to how it all works...

    Just remembered this link; http://www.urizenproject.net/airsoft/g36cbarrel/

Maybe the little rubber nub is missing, it can easily get lost during these jobs.

It is a tiny rubber ring that pushes down on the hop rubber, actually I think you were discussing a h type on with KD.

Bar that sounds like the hop isn't on, or the nub moved out of position during reassembly.

nah id say the oposite, the hop is on too much, it could be that the rubber isnt fitted to the inner barrel properly or a number of things really.,

All the pieces are there, including that tiny little rubber cylinder. I checked to make sure the mechanism was working before I re-assembled. It's fine. I was afraid I might have creased the old rubber when I took it apart, that's why I got a new one. But would the symptoms of a creased rubber be the problem I'm having?

Do I need to modify the mag well or any other part of the gun to fit a metal hop-up or should it just fit and work(providing I've assembled it right)?

That's the exact pictorial I used to do the swap.

Also, I forgot to mention, it was jamming as well once I test fired it first. I had to clear a few BB's out of the hop up chamber a number of times.
