Is there much difference between the V and the W versions of these TV's apart from the price? Both seem to be 1080p capable (1920 x 1080). What do people think?

Review of it's bigger brother. I imagine some of the image problems would be less apparent on their smaller set.

these guys seem to know their stuff. They don't rate the Bravia's too well though.

Samsung Lcd's seem to rate well on boards.ie Some great deals on the current range at the moment as new models are on the way

Panasonic LCD Seem also to rate well on boards as well.

Money no object look at these.....

This one is last years model- try Alliance electric in town they might do you a good deal on this one as its last years set...

No. V is one range W is another. The higher the letter the Better set I believe. The X Series is their flagship model and a fine looking set I may add. Ive also seen D & S and sure there are others. To my Knowledge the 3500/3000 series replaced the 2000 series

i.e 46x3500 is the current model.

    the 2005/2006 model was 46x2000

O right, i wasnt sure, i think that V is a newer model, though. In the 40inch,there are loads of options.I believe the order goes like this,U3000, P3000, S3000, D3500(FULL HD), V3000, W2000, X3000, X3500.As far as i know, both the X3000 and X3500 are still in production. You see a good few ppl talkin about both new on this thread. If, i was getin a 40" sony, i think it would be the d3500.Good value for a sony full hd screen and only launched a few months ago, i think.X3500 is amazing but about the dearest 40" inch lcd available.

I think your still a bit mixed up. hopefully a sony fan can help us out.

The 3000/3500 replaced the 2000 series whether it be 26,32,40 inch and so on.

the 3500's facia can be removed /changed whilst the 3000 is fixed, other than that the 3500/3000 have the same internals.

    have a look at this

    http://www.sony.ie/view/ShowProductCategory.action?site=odw_en_IE&category=TVP+32-40+Sony+BRAVIA+TV

as I said before the higer the letter the better the tv.

There may still be a few 2000 series on the site but the definatly are the last generation

    Not quite right trabpc.
The X3500 as the fixed brushed metal bezel, whereas the X3000 has the interchangeable bezel.

Ok so the w3000 has replaced the w2000.However, i'm sure that only a few weeks ago, i saw a w2000 for sale in soundstore. And another thing, why do sony say that the x3500 and some others have a 6.2 mp resolution resolution. This is only a gimmick??

2000 is deffo older model. 3000/3500 is current one.
however 4000 series is on the horizon

    http://whathifi.com/television/archive/2008/03/31/news-sony-announces-details-of-its-w4000-series-lcds.aspx

My god with the 3000/3500 and now 4000 series with different screen sizes plus different letters. sony have a massive if not confusing range.

    40V3000 and 40W3000

W has the bravia ex engine - improved picture clarity over the V's stadard bravia engine

W has an additional component input

W has a remote with controls for blu-ray/dvd recorder

    W has 11w speakers, V are 10w

W can take 1920x1080 over vga, V can only take 1366x768

There all the differences, I have a V3000 myself, and sell these sets for a living. Personally, dont see the point paying the extra couple of hundred for the W. PLus, the V looks nicer. (gloss black, W is steel, kinda dull yellowy, hard to describe shade)

The new 2008 line up of 4000's have ps3 styled menu system, swivel stands, improved contrast ratio's as far as I know at the moment.
