    Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to extend \ join to speaker cables? I need to run speaker cable for 10 meters and only have two 6 meters. How can I join the cables together without loosing any quality?

    Thanks,

    BC

Generally its not a good idea to join pieces of cable together, it brings in variables that can adversly affect the sound quality. Just wrapping the two cable together will allow sound to be passed through them, but won't be as clear as a straight run of cable.

They are easy enough to join up , with some electrical terminal strips , or plugs and sockets or whatever , however without starting down the esoteric road that is speaker cable quality , it would probably ease your mind a bit in regards to sound quality to buy some correct lengths of decent quality speaker cable.

Maplins will have what you want , no need to spend a great deal either , its most likely the best thing to do.

Yep, and if you're to be exact about it the lengths to each speaker should be the same.

Thanks for the response - I'll pop down to Maplins at lunch time.

Any recommendations on type of speaker cable? Make etc?

Going to be connecting up a Onkyo 605.

You're better going with some decent quality copper cables. 79 strand (2.5mm^2) is a good standard and cheap enough, about €1.50 per metre.
