Does anyone who how to back up text messages form your mobile? I have a Sony Ericsson W580 and I'm getting the "Your Message Memory Is Over 95% Full" message and I'd prefer to save the texts onto my computer rather than deleting them.

I tried using the software that came with the phone but it seems about as useful as the software that came with the SE K750I, ie. not very good at all.

    Try float's mobile agent [ http://fma.sourceforge.net/ ]

Think the SW that came with the K850i has the option to backup SMS, but you can download myphoneexplorer, that definetely gives you option to backup SMS

when I try to connect to myphoneexplorer I get an error saying "Cannot open COM6"

and float won't let me install it!

MyPhoneExplorer does the job for me. Sometimes I have problems with ports and stuff. I've given up on the data cable because that just doesn't work for some reason.

I do it via Bluetooth. Pair my phone with my PC, set my phonoe to allow it to connect, then load up MyPhoneExplorer and search for device.

    This works for me anyway.

Did you get a USB bluetooth things for your PC to allow you to connect the phone to it? Are they expensive?

Yah I got one. They're not too expensive. They range in price from about 2USD to about 50EUR depending on where you buy.

If you're not too fussed on cost and just wanna buy one then pop into CPW or O2 / Vodafone / Meteor shop and pick one up there for about 30EUR.

I got the w910i recently, and the it came with a brand new PC suite.
it allows you to back up all your info to the PC(inc. messages, phone numbers and appointments). now i don't know if you can get it from the Ericsson site but if you can its really good

This software seems to be alright. I can read the texts but only save them as .txts rather than saving them all in an excel file or something like that and it doesn't allow you to change the save name of the texts if you're saving more than 1 at a time.
