    Hi Folks,

My Friend is trying to enroll his two kids into primary school, and I would like to help him choose the right one. Can anyone give me advice on which schools are best in the area? Or where I could find a resource that compares schools?

    Any help much appreciated!

    Thank you

Dublin 15 is pretty big. Can you narrow it down a bit i.e. Coolmine, Castleknock, Blanchardstown?

He lives in Tyrrelstown, and they have been offered a place in ladyswell ns, I know this area can be rough, but they could have a gem of a school - I just don't know how to find out!

Also if ladyswell NS sounds like it's not an option, where is the nearest good school?

Hartstown National is a good school but again a bit of a trek.
The primary school in Kilbride is a good one too,a lot smaller then Hartstown but maybe not as many extra curricular activites.

If its a Catholic run school, you must be living in the catchment area.Say you live in tyrellstown you cant just send them to a school in castleknock or clonee. Your catchment area would be mulhuddart or finglas. Im not sure how it works with the educate together schools. I would imagine they are more liberal.

If he lives in Tyrrellstown his options are
Tyrrellstown education together school - My son is going to start there in Sept and I have been very impressed so far with it. But they operate a first come first served basis so you have to get the kids names down pronto
Mulhuddart NS - is moving from Mulhuddart village to Tyrrellstown and includes tyrrellstown in the catchment area. Seems like an pretty good school but there is a lot uf upset at the moment due to the move, parents are pretty angry about it.
Ladyswell NS - Don't know much about this school
There are also 2 other schools, one in Corduff and one in Whitestown which may take children from outside the catchment area.

You'll never get into Huntstown NS. I live 5 mins from it but outside the catchment area and they wouldn't even take my son's name in the waiting list. It's very over subscribed

    Good luck

No, whitestown is one of estates off the Blakestown road, like the sheepmore estate
the school is not in whitestown estate, but it is on the blakestown road.

Whitestown is not part of an address like Huntstown and Hartstown infact the houses in the whitestown estate are in blanchardstown or consilla depending the deeds of the properties.

I've lived in Mulhuddart for 12 year and I never knew that!!! Learned something new today.

My son goes to Educate Together in Castleknock, but I believe there is a huge waiting list. Have nothing but great reports about Educate Together in Tyrellstown, so if you can get him in there, I don't think you can go wrong.

its literally right across the road from whitestown. its less than a minute walk for the majority of the estate
