What would be a good idea for a Golf weekend for an Uncle that could also be good for both Aunt & Uncle? We're from Dublin, do you know any good courses that have hotels that would do this? If you were to spend €300-350, would this get you a weekend or just a round? Anyone know?
    Thank You

I'd recommend the Gold Coast Hotel and Golf in Dungarvan . Course is right beside the Hotel and your right on the sea. Check their website www.clonea.com. They look like they have some good offers in November!

Nuremore in Monaghan is worth looking at. They tend to have good deals if you haggle. The Restaurant is excellent, the course not bad and there is also a SPA/Health centre.

Mount Wholsely is pretty much the same but I would rate the course better than the Nuremore.

Played Portmarnock Links yesterday and if a challenge is sought then this certainly provides one! Not sure if they have a SPA, etc

I'd agree with the Gold Coast in Dungarvan - Dungarvan is a nice town with loads of fine restauraunts and 3 of the best golf courses within a 5 minute drive of one another - they have a special where you can play all 3 courses for 80 -85 euros.

I played Knightsbrook in Trim a couple of weeks back and have to say that the course was really nice. Didn't stay at the hotel but the restaurant was nice:

Another good option is the Mount Juliet, Waterford Castle and Faithlegg option. Great deal for playing the 3 courses over 3 days, stay in Waterford and go on the piss.

Another is Ballyliffin, fly to Derry.

Mount Wolseley is another option, rent a house for peanuts in the grounds, get all the hotels facilities, and play Mt Wolseley, Carlow and Rathsallagh on the way home.

    Job done

I'd recommend the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan... Nice hotel, smashing golf course...

Ballyliffin Golf Club plays host to the Irish seniors Open next weekend.
The Old Course at Ballyliffin was upgraded by Nick Faldo in 2006 and is getting more popular year by year.
The Ballyliffin Lodge is a very nice hotel nearby or go the Strand Hotel if you are on a budget

The Slieve Russell couldn't be recommended enough, top class course, top class hotel, health spa for Aunty, will get nicely pampered. Very nice staff and great food, close to Cavan and the Fermanagh lakes are very close too. all in all a beautifull part of the world very much unspoilt.

Myself and the old man did one a couple of years back.

Basically it was three rounds of Golf - one in Westport, Castlebar and Ballinrobe.

We made Castlebar our base and stayed in Lough Lannagh lodge, a B&B complex which was fine.

Now the price was excellent! €150 each! Broke down as €70 for the golf and €40 per night for the diggs!

I'm defo going to do this one again!
If you google Lough Lannagh and get in touch I think they can organise the golf for you!

If you dont want to go too far from Dublin try the Ballymascscanlon just outside Dundalk. Excellent hotel, Very good food, leisure center and a nice little 18 holer in the grounds... had a weekend there last year and will
go back this year at some stage.

Going to the Hilton in Templepatrick (10mins from Belfast) in July . 350euro gets you 2 nights B+B (breakfast is great !) 1 Evening meal and 2 Rounds of Golf (for me) and 2 Pamper treatments (for her). Price is for 2 people so for me , I'm paying 175e for 2 rounds of golf , 2 nights 4* accom and Dinner . Golf on its own is worth over 100e so cant go wrong .
Did this last year and was great , lovely course . Recently enetred top 100 golf courses in Ireland at No. 57. Going with the in-laws this year so I've a golf partner.
