    Hi chris-man,

What kind of music do you normally play. Or are there any artists that you really like their bass tone? :)

IMO you cant go wrong with a G&L. Take a look on ebay. There are some good bargains there. You'll get a G&L L2000 Tribute for around 400 euros plus shipping. The Trib. G&L JB2 is also great and around the same price or less. The Tributes are made in Indonesia. There are also G&L's that are USA made. The Tribs have the same pups and electronics as the USA made basses. There is not much difference otherwise except in price, and the body wood. I have a Trib. L2000 and a Trib. JB2 and I'm very happy with both. The L2000 has the deserved reputation for being very versatile sounding.

Good luck in your shopping....... and welcome to the "low end". ;)

    ah yes the low end....

G&L tributes are by far the best mid range bass out there when compared to anything else in the price range. Try one out 1st, there sold in Dublin.

AFAIK the only shop in Dublin that sells G&L's is "Musician Inc" on Drury St.

Here's an L2000 on ebay for around 340 euros.

Warwick do top quality basses for roughly your price-range. The RockBass range in particular.

Funny enough, both Roger Waters and Nick Oliveri used P basses pretty exclusively. If a fairly meaty rock sound is your thing then a Precision bass would fit the bill. They're not the most versatile instruments in the world but what they do they do superbly. Definitely go second hand on this, keep an eye on Buy And Sell and adverts.ie, you should be able to pick up a Fender Highway 1 Precision bass for that money.

I was just gonna suggest that! :pac:
You really can't go wrong with a P bass. You should be able to get a nice one used for that kinda money. :)

I've played a P bass a few times before and while it is a nice bass I want something a tad more versitile. I have my eyes on a few now so now its just a case of deciding :)
