Hi Guys; I have taken to playing with my camera lately, and I notice after I take a shot its almost impossible to be objective.. whilst this looked OK to me earlier, the more I study it the worse it becomes? I think the idea behind the image was better than the picture itself. Anyhow, criticisms much appreciated.

Could you upload it to an image hosting site & link it back here?

Interesting, would prefer this without the border as that seems to take away from the pins.

Thats pretty cool, I use to do that when I was younger lol I thought I was so cool sticking a needle through my finger

I agree try it without the border..

    Still cool shot though!

When I was a younger Punk back in the late 70's I used to put safety pins through my ears as easy and often as people have Weetabix for brekkie!

Paddy day years ago, Scotland played Ireland in the rugby. Climbed scaffolding to get onto a roof on Stephens Green. Then as two scots in kilts and all walked passed I pissed down on top of them. Then they looked up and I laughed.

    :D

I think I'd like the pic without the border and not cropped so tight

    S-M? :-)
It looks a little plane to me - what about increasing contrast?

Thanks for the feedback Guys; believe it or not, it wasnt taken to demonstrate my somewhat extraordinary abilities (:p) or my attachments to S&M...

you're right though; I think I need to get rid of the border, and the photo also needs to be sharper.

I felt bad the next day if that gives you any clues

hmnnn..... while i couldn't see it hanging on my wall, i think it could do with a little contrast, and a little brightness to take away some of the grey. Composition wise - i don't know what the second finger adds to it - perhaps just the pined finger and closer again would work well. But this would significantly change your intended composition. I agree that the crop is too tight particularly at the pins - just expand the canvas a little.

Why the particular subject matter? I'm just curious as to where you might display it or perhaps its just experimentation?

    Cheers.

Heh; I couldnt hang it on my wall either.. I guess I'm just interested in the way a photo can tell a story, without necessarily being 'picturesque' (or in my case, any good :p) Here, I think I employed identity as my theme; and our own destruction of that identity, told through pins and fingerprints, one of the only physical features we possess which differentiate us. The second finger is just there for contrast - an intact, unspoiled specimen I suppose..

OK, I'll stop before I crucify myself with my own pretension.

I've taken your advice and made some modifications; I shall post up the results when its complete.
