Post your favourite street art shots

I've been photographing street art for about 2 and a half years and have amassed a huge collection of shots.
I say street art because I don't consider the usual "Deco waz 'ere" statements to be art. I'm talking about actual art, the kind of thing that makes you look twice, makes you laugh or think, the sort of thing that sticks in your mind.
So, here's a few of my favourites:

    Magican

    2870328244_f417e512de.jpg

    2826091808_cb2d82fb4d.jpg

Anyone else have pics of their favourite street art?

Some stunning images above. Well done to photographers and artists.

Not as interesting visually, but interesting because of the history:

    2918990605_ea207cfda0_m.jpg

and I don't know if this counts, but I like the sentiment ("a better world is possible"). Coincidently the building in the distance is the Hotel Ambos Mundos ("Both Worlds", referring to the old world and the new world):

It was one of the many pieces that were done at the Kings of Concrete in July. I've got more shots in my Flickr account

I had the honour of being one of the official photographers for the event :)

l pearse, keep an eye out for street art on South William St (where you got your shot), there's always loads of interesting stickers around that area. Also, that door seems to change its art every now and then. Last time it was a Maser piece.

I have a few from Paris I haven't processed yet. I love shots like this myself, but I'm always wary of derived art? I find it hard to incorporate something of myself into the shot, without just documenting the scene. I've done a few with statuary alright. Might have to revisit some raw files :)

Thats one of the issues i have with street art as well. When i compare my shots of it to Pandora's i just find mine tend to be bland.

Icky, really like that second one. I can only assume the artist is a fan of horror literature!:)

    Thanks Linda! :)
Amsterdam is filled to the brim with street art! I was almost hurting myself trying to take all of that in as well as the city! :D
    Enjoy it!

Great shots everyone! There's a few I haven't seen before, or else I've seen different variations. Of course, if anyone happens to know any street artists and would be willing to introduce them to me, that'd be fantastic :D

For all you people who like to go to gigs, if you're in the Tivoli Theatre, go out to the smoking area and feast your eyes on some of Dublin's greatest street art!

Hmmm very few what you would term street art shots. Must fix that. Sounds like a Saturday project.

two more, i actually didn't realise that the previous prison one was part of a bigger piece, so when i did i had to go back and shoot it.

i really like the cars tail lights in the first one.

I walk past that spot where the second photo was taken regularly - the art changes really frequently. A couple of months ago there were some cool random stencils of mickey mouse with an ak47.

Anyone know what all the mural stuff around the Tivoli on Francis St is? It's on both sides of the theatre, and seems to go all the way back through the car park as well, and has a mobile number listed. Perplexing. Might be worth a look if you are into this stuff.

You can tell by the shadows being cast in some scenes that it took days and days to do a single piece. Must have taken months to do the whole thing. Wow....

I hate the "FACT" thing, it's an ignorant way to behave on a message board.

I have told you already this is not AH, so no more of that bull****. In here you will have polite conversation, if you are capable of such.

Also, no posting pictures of people clearly carrying out illegal activities. If someone wants to post a finished piece then knock yourself out.

I have removed your last post on this thread.

it's rare to see a shot of grafitti which is good in itself - usually it's the grafitti which is good, not the photograph of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,259 ✭✭✭alb

    That video was amazing!

Here's a set I took of art on the Berlin wall from the eastside gallery:

    http://www.focuspocus.org/index.php?page=seriesthumbs&n=0011

While i don't think there's usually much merit deserved for basically photographing someone elses art, I felt I should photo it as the wall is obviously in decay and being in public is subject to vandalism and people taking pieces as a souvenir. In 10 years time it may not look like these photos.

Sorry, a bit off topic but don't know where else to post this where the right people will see it.

Looking for Street Artists who would be doing up a couple of canvasses for me. On a budget but looking for a few of them so might be worth someones while?

PM me please rather than spoil this thread. Or point me to the right place to post this ....

Clearly you didn't read my post. I was asking for people's photo of art on the streets, not of pathetic graffiti e.g. "Deco luvs Shauna".
The first picture is art and outside (therefore street art), there's no comparsion to the usual rubbish you see scrawled everywhere.
No need to be so tetchy!

To everyone else, keep 'em coming! I love seeing all the stuff I missed!
