    Do you believe in it?
Well a lot of you do as it's all over boards! I hadn't realy heard of it until I started using this site

"Don't do that, karma will come back to bite you"
"Don't worry, karma will ensure they'll get what they deserve"

    as examples

In all different forums and all sorts of threads.

Is it something people just tell themselves as they reckon things balance out in the long run?
Or just a myth and tbh, ruthless people get ahead so why bother being nice at all in business or whatever situation.

Karma means "action" not that load of rubbish.
Do I believe action exists? Yes

Well they chose to post in AH rather then in spirituality so it was their choice or action which lead to the thread going the way it is going.

    Dude....

We're all giving off, like, these SERIOUSLY bad vibes, man.... And y'know when we all get angry, we'll start fighting one another and that'll be so not cool and then governments fight... and it'll be y'know.... Karmageddon....

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The popular notion of karma - everything being balanced out ultimately so those who do awful things will eventually get their comeuppance? Utter arse. There are people who do vile things and get away with it til the day they die. Maybe they'll get theirs after they die but none of us have any way of knowing that.

If you get list, ask the cheerful psychic. She's a happy medium.

This is because, by and large, people who bang on too much about karma as total pussies. This is just not good enough.

Me, i talk about karma, i try and live a good life but i am also open to the idea that maybe, just maybe, at times i need to be an agent of karma.

If i see someone doing something wrong i can either stand there and say "karma will get them" or i can embrace my role in the cosmic balance, walk across the road and plant the cnut.

Well, I try to be nice anyway. If Karma worked we wouldn't have criminals getting off scot-free or getting off on a light sentence...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,368 ✭✭✭Smart Bug

There's no such thing as Karma. It's just a method for weak-ass clowns to fob off the gazillionth time they've been trod on by some pr!ck by saying "oh, what goes around comes around" instead of standing the f*ck up for themselves.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,044 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

Karma is not about just this life time, it is about the changes over a span of life times and maybe for someones over all karma they were ment to be a criminal in this life time.

I believe in Karma because in real life my name is Earl.

It's the Jesus 'Do Unto Others' thing all over again.

If people are going around, thinking that their being nice to others will in turn bring niceness upon their own heads, then yes there's a high likelihood that good acts will beget good acts.

Also, the chances of some nasty bugger getting hopped by another, nastier bugger increase the nastier he acts. So yeah, I'd say in the end it all balances out.

Karma is just another made up thing to keep people nice. It's a lovely concept. Pity it is not real.

In order to survive most organisms need to have a certain level of pattern recognition. An example of this can be seen in nature, animals return to fruitful feeding ground and don't return others. Being animals themselves it is obvious that homo sapiens have the same pattern recognition requirements. However, there are two problems associated with this. The first is the inability to see a pattern when there is one, a simplistic example being the inability to see how following society's rules leads to punishment. The second problem is seeing a pattern when there is none. A lot of ideas such as luck, karma and many aspects of religious belief go back to this flaw in pattern recognition. There is no karma, just this flaw mixed with a sprinkling of solipsism

    There is.
End the discussion in AH? OK. Only because you asked.
I won't move this thread to Spirituality though. They're mean bastards. I'd suggest you read up on karma, dharma, etc. before creating a thread in there. They make me look friendly.
