    Hi Guys,

I am in a predicament, i have raised nearly 3k for St Lukes Hospice to do the the Dublin marathon but i was a day late for registering. I am a complete tool. i have checked and you can turn up on the day and do the run but you cant start or finish, i was wondering if anyone knew of anyone that cant participate but has already registered. Otherwise i dont get the sponsorship money.

I would really appreciate anyodys suggestions

    Wow! I'm a little absent-minded, but......
Your best chance is to head down to the organizers offices and beg...

Transfers are not allowed, but in your case, if you could find someone who is not running who has registered, and bring them down to the HQ, with ID, perhaps they might make an exception.

    Hey,

Just get a number and run (preferably one that looks very similar to the one they are using for the marathon). Nobody will stop you by the way. There'll be no-one checking at the start! Only at the end you may not get a t-shirt medal, but no one will say anything. I know a few people who have done this and havnt had a problem.

Have a look through this forum you will see a post that might help you out, There are people that have registered and cant run, but if you go to the people in charge i'm sure they would help you out.

You don't even need a number. Mate of mine ran it a year or two ago - only at the very end was he ushered off the course, I think this was more to prevent him from getting the massage or whatever else you get at the end.
At the end of the day I doubt any of your sponsors will want their money back if you are not officially registered.

That said there is bound to be loads of people who registered who cannot run.

There is a significant chance that the OP would pulled out of the race by the organisers. It happens.
I think that the OPs real problem is that they need to prove to people that they did it officially. IMHO the OP will have difficulty getting a proper entry.

Even if he has a number belonging to someone else, a few photos taken before and afterwards with the number should be ok, from a fundraising point of view.

I almost got pulled out at the "check point" near Leenane during the Connemarathon 08 as my number was not visible (started with a running top and my number was pinned to my t-shirt. Thought i would take my top off after few miles, but kept it till the end. No photos either!).
I would think there'll be even more check points in Dublin.
