I was trying to keep it clean by not cursing. Trust you to take it too far. :P

If you are using logic I can sort out the loop problem and tell you how to assign midi to any parameter.
Post back and let me know.

Go to Devices -> Device Setup. Click the plus sign on the top left of the Device Setup window and install a Generic Remote. Click on the new Generic Remote in the Device setup window and assign your controller as the Midi Input. You should have something similar to this:

    devices2mz1.jpg

In the screenshot above there are two main windows in the Device Setup screen. The first one is used to create a control. To do this:

    (1) Click on a pre-existing element or click Add to create a new element.
    (2) Give it a name under the controller tab (like Fader 9 above which corresponds to my 9th fader)
    (3) Hold down the Learn button and move/press/rotate your control. It should automatically pick out the address and range of the control.

Now that the control is created we need to assign it a command and for that we go down to the second screen. To do this:

    (1) Click on the controller element you wish to assign a command to.
    (2) Click on the device row and select the device you wish to send commands to like the VST mixer/Midi mixer/VSTi's etc
    (3) Click the channel category tab and select the appropriate category. If its a vsti or the transport bar 'device' is fine, if you are choosing a mixer you will select which audio track you wish to manipulate here.
    (4) Finally select the action to perform like Volume/Lfo/Rate etc

    Hopefully thats helped :)
