Black tie Christmas party

    Hey Thumpette
Yeap all of those are suitable for blacktie. Although the cocktail length ones will require a higher heel then the full lenght ones so if you want the lower heel I would opt for either of the full lengths!
I find Monsoon really good for formal- the grafton st branch is best!
M&S do some good formals on the run up to xmas and as no one ever thinks of it for xmas party clothes its less likey that someone will be wearing the same one. :)

I like the first one best, I agree that you'll need a higher heel, but they will look really well and there's gorgeous high shoes everywhere. I don't normally like Coast, but that dress is dressy without being OTT.

I love the purple full length one.

I have a black tie event coming up that I already had a dress for but now I'm seriously considering that one!! :P

Went shopping last night to have a try of these- most depressing thing ever! Nothing in the whole shop (coast) fitted me. I'm generally size 14- sometimes 16, occasionally 12, but I felt like an elephant trying to get into the clothes. Horrible experience. Was even trying on some size 18 things which didnt come close!

There was one skirt and top- the skirt fitted perfectly and was lovely in fairness but the top was way too tight and completely flattened my chest- the girl was doing the hard sell on it.

Anyway went to monsoon today- everything was much nicer and a lot of more unusual looking things. And they all fitted perfectly. :D

Going back there soon with the credit card!

    Hiya,

I would be a 12-14 (I have a chest) and I HAVE to buy a 16 in coast as nothing else will fit me.

I did buy a beautiful dress in a 16 that fits perfect in the waist and lenght, but I will have to get the bust taken in slightly - apart from that I love it.

I have to admit I hate shopping in some shops as I come out feeling like a beached whale even though I'm not.

Keep the chin up, its not you ! Post an image of the dress when you buy one. !!!

    Rgds

Wow Thumpette you have excellent taste. Those dresses are gorgeous so I'm sure whatever you choose will be beautiful. Monsoon does have lovely dresses for that sort of party. Best of luck and enjoy whatever you wear !!

Thanks :):) I tried on this one in Monsoon and it was absolutely gorgeous. Loks much nicer on than the picture gives it credit for...

I think my head has talked the 'love it' part of my brain into sence though- its €250 yoyos for the dress alone before shoes and bags and jewelly etc. Not quite decided for 100% to not get it yet though- think ill have another try on!

I also really like the cut and the shape of this dress on... Comes in different colours, I had pretty much decided on black- but now there is this green one on the website... hmmm. I have kinda brown-y red-y hair so green suits. decisions decisions!

Pretty much the last one on the shortlist is this gorgous creature! Almost as expensive as the long one, but much more wearable to different occassions!

I think black shoes would be great and at least you can get a good pair and have those for years.

I love the plain green one, I wouldn't go with green shoes tbh, I think they would take from the look of the dress. Black or maybe even silver would look best imo.

Bought the plain green one at lunchtime today- love it :)

I tried it on with black shoes which are definately good with it.
