Having problems hitting my irons for a while and was going to replace my 6 iron with a 32 degree ping utility club. does anyone have one of these, are they good to use, would most golf shops stock this club, what would be the cost for one of these

    Hi,
I bought a Ping 21 degree hybrid recently in McGuirks, priced at €175, paid €160.

As above said, you should be able to pick one up for ~€160. €169 is the going price tag in the majority of stores from what I hear/see.

What is happening to your 6 iron shots?

A 6 iron isn't that difficult a club to use. I'd spend the money having some lessons before buying another club. I'd suggest that if you can't hit a fairly decent 6 iron then you'll also struggle with a utility wood. If you can sort out the fault then you'll enjoy your golf much more.......if you buy a new club then you'll still be left with the fault.

Regarding the club being good to use, I can only tell you my experience. I have a 21 degree hybrid but needed something to replace a 5 iron type club for tough lies out of the rough. I bought a 24 degree G10 and it's my new favourite club. Looks and feels great behind the ball in rough and also off the tee. Comes highly recommended from me. I don't usually use a stiff flex on my clubs but did for the Hybrid and it's working great for me.

32 degrees sounds too lofted to replace a 6 iron.
I have a "6" Nickent 3dx ironwood and its 29 degrees. Distance-wise its exactly the same as several 6 irons I have compared it with.

(BTW, 3dx are great clubs and excellent value and the club that brought the Nickent name from obscurity to esteemed in the USA.)

Agree with poster above, though, there's something more wrong if you are struggling to hit a 6 iron. While I have the "5" and "6" hybrids, the difference in playing them compared with my irons is marginal. (Its 4 and below wher hybrids really replace irons for all but the elite golfer. Ill never have a 4 iron or lower in my bag again).

Lofts vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. For example, Ping G10/G5 is 30.5*. If you're looking for a direct replacement of the 6 Iron, I would go for the 32*, as in theory you should hit a 30.5* rescue further than a 30.5* iron, hence the need to go up in loft slightly.
